I just got one the other day and I let me say this is a cool box. It takes some understanding as to what does what but when it does WOW! It works great with my Ghia and my Z-28. It kind of reminds me of a cranked Mini Z in a pedal. If you've got some extra $$ laying about check one out.

You got that right, lefty!? Boy that sounds kind of funny. I got a Daul Drive in the spring and I love it. Sounds great in every amp I've got and that's saying something, I'm rarely happy with drive pedals and this one nails the tone that's been in my head for years, but I could find. It's the best pedal I've bought since 1979 when I bought a Boss OD-1 [most under rated pedal ever, smokes tube screamers], which is still on my pedal board to this very day. BTW, Scotty at Pro Analog is one of the nicest, most solid men I've meet in this business, he was kind to me and happy to hear from a satisfied customer. Blessing to him and all who come his way.
Peace, TK
PS: I'd like to hear his new Power Driver.

I liked it with all my Z amps, but it did'nt cut it with my Deluxe Reverb IMHO. Fender amps tend to be brite and a little brittle, not something the DD needs. I'd be interested in trying the Dirt Royal w/Cheese

Hi. I'm new to Dr Z amps and have a Maz Jr NR 2x10 arriving friday from Fat Sound.
Could you guys elaborate on how this pedal sounds on your gear or possibly post a sound clip?
I'm interested in the concept of this pedal, but am a little shy to pull the trigger on $300 for an overdrive.
Currently, I use a Barber DD and a Homebrew Powerscreamer. Both sound nearly the same, but the powerscreamer sounds a tad more organic than the DD.
Lefty, I noticed, from previous posts, that you've been bouncing around OD pedals. How does the dual drive compare to your others you've had, including the OCD?
Thanks!

I hate to tell you but I always seem to bounce around with my OD's but a few really stick out...the OCD and the Dual Drive are a couple of them. Just a hint, over at the Gear Page there is ALWAYS one for sale for alot less than new price.
The nice thing with the Dual Drive is it's gain structure, very amp like, not very compressed and it SINGS! The green channel (boost) is not as loud as one would think, but a step up in volume from your clean tone. You could easily get by with leaving the DD on all the time and using your guitars volume to vary levels of volume/gain.
And there is nothing wring with the OCD either. it can cover ALOT of ground from a clean boost to a distortion. The OCD has a bit more bass response and compression. You can also find a few of these on the Gear Page for a fair price. I would start with the OCD and go from there, to kind of develop a "taste".
There's nothing wrong with the Barber DD, I've had 3 of them, but there always seemed to be a but of an "aural coating" when using them. I find it alot with the Barber pedals.
I just got a Maz 18 NR Jr. 2x10 too, and it's a great pedal amp, as with most of the Z amps. Here is a little bit of new amp advice. Let the speakers get some break in before you really start to shop for OD pedals. Otherwise everything you try might be a little bright.

Thanks Lefty,
I agree with you on the DD. It does coat the tone with something and I really am beginning to get annoyed. The Powerscreamer sounds nice and has that enhanced TS9 sound and adds some organics to it without coloring it up too much.
Looking at picking up a Silver Mod TS9 from Analogman to try. people seem to be raving about it. I'd like to ultimately have a TS9-808 based OD along with one other boostable OD pedal on my pedalboard.
I'll watch the gear page.
