I have a vintage Ibanez AD-80 which I love although it would be nice to have more delay time. I hardly use delay though so it suits me.

There is the Pete Cornish Delay that he built for Gilmore. It is supposedly extraordinary but it is also extremely expensive. Chris at Mass Street music will sell you one. I think the Fulltone Tube Tape Echo would be my choice if delay mattered to me.

The Pete Cornish is a stand alone pedal but you need a spare $1500 or so. What about the Maxon range (900 or 999) or the SIB range? I'm only talking analog here cause thats what I like. I have a lexicon delay unit in my old rack but the ad80 sounds much nicer to me.

Had ther maxon with the smaller delay time , havent tried the one with the longer time. I guess id doesnt matter now ,. just ordered a T Rex Replica. if its good enough for Sonny Landreth its good enough for me!!!!!!!

I'd say I'm pretty happy w/ my Boss Rv-3 Reverb/Delay pedal. But it's really low budget compared to the stuff you're talking about.

:)I have a T-rex replica delay pedal. After growing up on a real Echoplex and then onto the digital delay racks from the early 80's and then onto a TC G-Force which is really a killer piece, I then down sized into a Line 6 delay pedal which was very handy but sounded thin and whimpy at least to me. It died on me ( a good thang!)so I got the T-Rex and am totally happy with it 100%. it is fat, warm, and has tap tempo that works great. I paid $400 for mine thru MF. It's not on thier website or catologs but I called and asked and I recieved! Hope this helps..........

I have the SIB Mr. Echo. The sound is nice but don't give it a hot input or it'll distort. I actually like the Digitech just fine. Set it on the tape simulation position and it's very nice. You can tap-tempo it but I get confused so I just set it manually. My Maz 38 sr has an effect loop but I've never tried it there.

I actually like the Line 6 DM4. Its liek three delays in one and the models are close enough for the limited amount I use delays. Mostly I use the mem Man, analog delay, and tape echo models. Im sure not as ideal as having these three actual delays, but the true buypass is nice for when its off and access to about a dozen delays for about $249 is nice.

I need to cover a lot of different delay types for our gigs, and I've been very happy with the Boss DD-20 Gigadelay. Four presets (five, actually), nice analog models, tap tempo, a neat reverse delay, and some other bells and gimmicks that are fun but not all that useful for my application. Doesn't suck tone any worse than any other Boss pedal, and it is built well.

I also went throught the same barage of testing Delay pedals. I wanted something that was DM-2 ish.
The one I liked the most was the Danelectro Dan-Echo. The first time I tried it, I wasn't that keen, but once I learned to turn down the High Cut control (a great feature BTW) - it sounded great and extremely analog.
YMMV,
Shawn

echoczar is the end-all of analog delays. bite the bullet and spend the money now to end the quest once and for all and it will save you money in the long run. kind of like buying a Z as your first amp rather than wasting time and money buying and selling fenders/peaveys/marshalls.

Wow, I had never heard of that one. Very cool. I like the little angel baby accessory for modulated delays too. Good idea. If my ad-80 dies I'll know what to replace it with!

I have a Fulltone Tube Tape Echo and a Diamond Memory Lane...the memory lane is analog, but with tap tempo. This is a one of a kind right now. It's amazing.
