I bought an OCD..after all the pre hype..I found it to be just that..Hype !! The best thing this pedal does is that it does not roll off bottom end..that's a rare thing for an overdrive..however..it has a very funny high end shimmer to it..that I didn't like..My tastes for blues style of playing..is a Barber LTD or SS pedal..they are quieter too.. +1 on the Barber LTD. I have the Silver LTD and love it!

I like the OCD myself with the Ghia. Are you sure about the whole serial number thing? There is nothing listed on the website about these changes. Is there a forum or chat about this somewhere that you know of?

I asked Fulltone to verify which serial #'s had the new value pot. Below is the answer that I got from Fulltone Tech Support.

Also, what does that change do sonically or tone wise to the pedal?

A store has one of the newer ones, when I get a sec I'll take my (#2007) in and A/B them if they still have that one in stock. The Fulltone support rep also told me that many prefer the old 100K pot ones and that it's a very subjective thing so I guess trying both side-by-side is the only sure way to tell. There was a reason for the change but for the life of me I can't remember what it was ... it does not make the newer ones "better" ... just different.

this is just my .02, but i used to love the ocd. I DO NOT like it with the mazerati, seems to be too high endish. I sounds great with the route 66, but just received a zen drive today. It sounds great with the mazerati. I'll have to wait til tonight at the gig with the rt.66. I'm sure it will replace the OCD!!!

I got an OCD after the frenzy died down. I was looking for a transparent ( as much as possible for high gain ) pedal that would clean up well to get me into early ZZ Top territory. I have a Rt. 66 and the OCD sounds quite good with it. Hitting it w/ my Keeley compressor adds to it in a very good way- smooth and touch sensitive. I have to cover a wide range of tones at church and my classic rock/blues band. From fairly clean to ZZ Top. I run the 66 w/ treble between 1-3 o'clock, bass about 2 o'clock and volume never over 9 o'clock. This into ZBest 2X12 ( GB's ) or my 1X12 Z cab w/ G12H-30 ( Jury is still out on this speaker) Using Strat and Tele. Other OD is Blue Collar set for med gain. Adds a bit of mid-hump but sounds good w/ rt. 66

So I compared the two OCDs, mine with a newer one (post #4564) and they are definitely different. The newer one is less scooped (more lower mids?) and not as bright on the top end (not as harsh?) and a tad less compressed. Tried it with a Peavey tranny and to match the volume level the new one had to be around 1-2 o'clock and the old one around noon ... probably because of the new pot level. With a VHT tube amp I did not notice this discrepancy, both pedals match the level at noon ... weird. IMHO ... chances are if you did not like the old one, you're not going to "love" the new one, they are different but it's still the OCD sound. If you were luke warm about the old one and found it a bit too compressed, scooped and harsh ... the new one might be what you were looking for. I still like the old one, but I like the new one as well ... so now I have both (sucker!). OCD is one of those pedals that will sound very different with different amps and guitars, but in Mr. Fuller's defence, that is what it says on his website and that's why I think a lot of people did not like it ... it just does not sound good with their setup. Hope this helps ... or not ... p.s. my MI Audio Crunch Box should arrive this week (fingers crossed) ... whoo-hoo!
