I know most of us here are seasoned pedal junkys but just in case I thought I would post a trick that I perform on many OD's to see how they stack up.
The cool thing is to crank the volume and lower the gain for more of a clean boost, kind of a Master volume thing. Some pedals do this well some don't. The Timmy does this really well. If I crank up the volume of my Ghia 1-3:00 having too much distortion really messes with the note clarity, and flubs things up. Of course at that volume it takes alot less to drive the tubes. And just the opposite with the amp at lower volumes, more gain less volume.
Any others?
