I pretty much have a buttload of OD's to use with my Z amps and I find my Z-28 will take to most of them. But my Ghia is a little different. I prefer something a little less compressed and open sounding with the Ghia, such as the Fulltone Fat Boost. I'm guessing because of the EL-84s earlier compression.

With my Z28 I prefer either the Fulltone FatBoost or my Red Snapper. Last week I bought a TBIAC but I haven't tried it with my Z28 so far.

Lefty - Thanks for setting this baby up! Peace and Z-out! Cotton Thanks, it was a labor of love. Now if they can just keep this thing running. With all the Z amp lovers out there I thought we really needed this forum.

I use the OCD and the Fatboost with my Delta 88. After I picked up the OCD, all my OD's went to ebay. I will keep my Fatboost as well.

I'm with you on the OCD. I sold off all of my other OD's once I got the OCD. Works great with my Ghia !

I've found recently, when I've got my Rt.66 overdriving slightly, I prefer the fatness of the Barber LTD over the smoothness of my Eternity...but both sound very nice.

For my Maz's, I keep going between a Mosferatu and Barber Burn Unit EQ. Both very different sounding, but each has outstanding qualities. The Z reacts very well with these pedals.

I'm using an RC Booster to an AC Booster to a Z28. That's about it, other than a tuner. Simple amp, simple pedal board.

Madison, I swear we're brothers from another mother.
RC and AC Boost here mainly. But I do use a Homebrew Electronics powerscreamer for the TS9 sorta sounds. (THe HBE Sounds much better than a ts9).

Pharaoh Amp's Class A Boost for clean boost and Pharaoh Amps Rodeo Drive for o/d.
I also tried my trusty Reverend Drivetrain for a big more grind but my Carmen Ghia started clipping once I cranked the drive. Has anyone else heard the same problem? It's not really a problem but it did take me by surprise.

I'm using A TMB, strictly just the modern side with my Maz.
I had great results with a Tim and will second the above post about the Fulltone '69...loved it...Right now I'm using a Souldbender and sometimes a Capt Coconut for fuzz.
I crank my amp enough that I don't realy need an "od"...a clean boost and a good Fuzz toone is all I realy need.

I use a bunch of AnalogMan stuff (TS9/808/Silver, Boss SD1/808, Maxon SD9 Silver) as well as an RC Boost. They all sound great thru my Mazerati. I like the TS9 for rhythm, then I'll kick on the SD1 for leads. I'm really liking the sound of two overdrives together. I still haven't tried the OCD yet. Great job on the forum - I've been looking for one since I got my Z in January!

I have a Analogman King of Tone that I use in front of my MAZ 18 Jr. 2 X 10. This pedal sounds great with the MAZ! The MAZ sounds great on its own, but when I need to bring it up to "11" the KOT does it! Joe

I am also using a Klon right now. I can't believe how good this pedal sounds. If you just use it as a boost, any guitar through any tube amp sounds better. Put just about any pedal in front of it and you have instant thick lead tones.

Anyone here have experience -- good, bad or otherwise -- with a Banzai Cold Fusion overdrive? I'm considering buying one and from the reviews I've read it's pretty good and not too expensive (about half what a Klon is currently going for). One review said it is really good with 'dark' amps.

I have a KOT as well but it's not getting much use since the OCD purchase and now the OCD isn't getting much use now that Timmy is in da house. I would really like to try a Klon with my Ghia to see if it warrants anymore pursuit. If anyone wants to trade off for a KOT test drive for a Klon give me a hollar...no obligation.

Tim C. Jauernig's clean boost the "Luxury Drive" and his overdrive pedal named the "DGTM" which is short for Diabolical Gristle Tone Manipulator! These two pedals flat kick arse through any amp and guitar setup! Through my Z28 head and Z-2X10 cabinet they are the "Cat's arse"!! Tim is as nice a guy as I have ever dealt with purchasing musical instrument gear! He is a seasoned player as well so he does indeed have a great ear for tone!! Check out his website www.tcjeffects.comMac ;D

I have a Fulltone OCD, which is far and away the best sounding distortion pedal I have ever encountered. Absolutely superb with the Carmen Ghia. Second place goes to the Barber Direct Drive, which is also very good.

I have a Clapton Strat and use the active mid boost from the guitar to overdrive the amp (a Rte 66). It works really well and I'm happy with the sound. I also ocassionally use a Nobels ODR-1, but mostly rely on the mid boost.

Barber Direct Drive w/the Maz Jr. I'd be interested in trying the Direct Drive SS and Burn Unit EQ, as well as the Fulltone OCD and the Timmy...

I use a Fulltone Fulldrive 2 and a Fulltone Soulbender, and a Klon.
My Fulldrive is getting a new footswitch in it so I haven't used it with my new Dr. Z.
A friend loaned me his Distortion Pro, and I don't like it all that much. It would be great for me if it had, say 20% less gain? I keep it (distortion knob) all the way off, and that works the best.
I also use a H&K Rotosphere, and a Clyde Wah. The Clyde wah doesn't really like the Soulbender, but I haven't tried it after it yet.
I will say, though, I just purchased the Dr. Z RX ES about two weeks ago, and it is the first amplifier I have ever liked without any pedals.
I've previously owned 3 other Dr. Z's (Maz 38 Sr. 1x12, Carman Ghia, and Mazerati) with the RX and the Mazerati being my two favorites.
