damn,
I'm on tour in Germany w the Brandos. The other guitar player just got a Townsend model 50 Hiwatt and they rented me a pretty crappy teenage sounding 100w JCM900 dual WTF.
I convinced Dave (the singer/guitarist) to get an Airbrake and we have both been using them to tame these insane rigs. I Am SO Glad we have 'em out here!
That is all.

I imagine even a JCM 900 might sound pretty decent once the power tubes are into saturation...

Z Love the Airbrakes Doc... left one at the studio too. Microphones love 'em. Miss my Z's. I'm not into these modern buzzy teenage marshalls:) Wouldn't want to be a vegetarian in Germany!

I regularly use mine with a Marshall JTM45. I haven't had a chance to try it with the more powerful JMP50. These 4 hole, non master volume amps are brutally loud, but the JTM45 becomes creamy, delicious and very manageable with a Les Paul, and I'm sure it'll do the same for me on the JMP if and when we get to a larger venue. I'll bet the JCM900 might sound a whole lot better without the buzzy master controlling the volume.
This weekend we're at a smaller spot, so I'm looking forward to using my Z28 and matching 1X12 cab, and the Airbrake will be there for sure because that amp is a beast too!

JCM-900 has back to back diodes in the signal path - basically a fuzz tone built in to the amp that you can't shut off. ACK!

Ugh! That's why I like simple amp designs. You can always change your mind about the pedal you're putting in front of it.
