I do not get a sound like that with my number 22 and a couple of Gibsons. What is the history on yours? Guitars?

Humbuckers, single coils, filtertrons. My amp, a 2007 model, went back to Z for a check up, came back the same as far as the distortion character. When I described it, they said, yes, that's the sound of a tweed Super. The cathodyne phase inverter is known to compress and distort more than the long-tailed pair type. First amp I've ever owned with that type PI, so I know now what they're talking about. My BF/SF Fenders, Marshalls, Matchless (and my Z Maz 18 IIRC) all have the long-tailed pair PI, which stays cleaner and drives the output tubes harder.
