My beat up 1953 tweed Twin Amp is maybe my favorite old amp. It's a 5C8 model, which is way different in design than the high powered Twin of a few years later. It runs on two 6L6's and has 6SC7 preamp tubes! Like four of 'em, I think. The next model in the development line, the 5D8, changed over to 12AX7's. This amp has 2-12" Jensen speakers, and supposedly is about 25 watts, but to me, it's about as loud as an old tweed Deluxe, but bigger and fatter sounding due to the 2-12's, and the perfect loudness for home playing, recording, band rehearsal. I usually run it with the volume on about 4 for a sweet clean enough (a little gritty) rhythm with the Tele volume down, and a smooth sweet distortion with the Tele nutted. No pedals. The good news: I can get the Gal to sound identical to this amp. Presence 12 o'clock, bass 9:30, Treble 3:00, volume 1 on 2:00, Air Brake back 2 clicks. Nice distortion at these settings. Want it louder?, lose a click on the brake! Enjoy.
