Anybody ever mess w/ this combination of amp and speaker? I've been looking for a single 12" that would stand up to the Delta's 80+ wattage for a while now. I won a Mesa compact 1X12 w/ an EVM 12L off Flea-bay this past weekend. I'm guessing it should be delivered by this coming weekend. The EVM 12L gets some pretty great reviews as a high powered neutral sounding speaker. I'm thinking it should be a pretty good fit w/ the Delta 88. Has anyone tried one of the EVM 12Ls w/ the Delta? Thoughts... Opinions?

Fed Ex delivered the cab today. I got a little bit of an opportunity to run it through it's paces w/ the Delta while the family was away for a few hours. There is zero speaker break-up. That's not a bad thing, as my Delta starts breaking up a bit around 10:00 on the volume dial w/ humbuckers. Cranking it up to the 3-3-3 setting gave some great crunchy rhythm and singing sustain on the leads. The bottom held nice & tight. This speaker has great low end thump even w/ it being in a compact open-back cab. The cleans were very nice and crisp w/ the volume knob on the guitar rolled back a bit. I think this may be my favorite speaker w/ the Delta. I didn't have time to compare some of the other cabs in a head-to-head, but I'm digging this speaker/amp combo. I didn't want to run it too much w/out an attenuator, as even though the wife and kids were out, I still have neighbors... As a side note, this cab looks pretty cool under the Delta. It is much smaller than my Z Convertibles. I think it's even smaller than the old short Z 1X12 & 2X10 cabs. It'll make a great compact stack where volume is not an issue, but space is at a premium. I'll try to get some pics tonight or tomorrow.

I use a SRO 12/L and they sound good. It's a fairly efficient speaker and can take what's thrown at it.With my 68 DR it sounds huge.

I took the Delta "mini-stack" to practice last night. None of my usual dual-amp/multi-cab rigs. I just wanted to hear what the Delta sounded like through the EVM12L in a band setting. I ran the PRS and the Charvel through a Boss Tuner, BB+, and a Fulltone Clyde Wah into the Delta. I had the Treble dimed, Bass at 3:00, and Volume at 3:00. Air Brake on two clicks. I put the cab and amp up on a chair to get it up off the ground a little (it's so small!).
This rig cuts! It sounded huge! The guys were amazed that that little thing was putting out that much sound. They are used to my two-head/two closed-back-two twelve cab rigs. It had a nice "grit" that rolled back to a great clean w/ the guitar's volume knob. Stepping on either side of the BB+ gave increasing levels of gain/dirt/sustain. It was like having a four channel amp (in a good way...)! And those big 'ole KT88 have a sound like no other!

Yea those EV speakers really kick when the right amp is pushing them and it doesn't have to be a super wattage amp. My DR kicks it and my Red Plate MDD loves it too.I haven't heard a SRZ but it sounds like it is made for it.

I was doing a Classic 70's some 80' Hard Rock, Journey, Firgner, Boston, Rush, Kiss, Queen, You get the pic.... The SRZ and the 4x12 Loaded Mesa With EVM/L's Were awesome, I never have coupled it with my Stangray, However, They are a well all around speaker. Hang on to any EVM/L's you may have. ;D

I love everything about the EVM12L except for the weight.
I have one mounted in a 1x12 cabinet and when I am learning the tonestack of an amp I like to start with this speaker as it lets you hear all the nuances.
Every one of my Dr. Z Amps has spent time hooked up to this speaker.
I would think the Delta and this speaker would be the schiznitz.

I love everything about the EVM12L except for the weight. You're right about that! That Mesa Compact is heavier than my Z Convertible 2X10, despite the Mesa being practically half it's size. I couldn't imagine lugging around a 4X12 of those beasts...
