When slaving a tube amp into another or board can you just plug into the airbrake as a load, to silence the amp (ie without connecting to the speaker) or will this cook the output transformer?
If the answer is NO GOD NO, what other products are available?

zdogma,
The Air Brake is not a load. You still gotta' plug the "brake" into a speaker or load. Sorry, don't know about other products.

The THD Hot Plate has a Load setting on its front panel specifically for this purpose. It shuts the speakers off entirely - in fact, you don't even have to plug the speakers in if you choose the Load position. But there is some danger in that - if you are amplifying a signal and switch that switch, your amp has no load and could be damaged. If you're using as a load, keep your hands off the switch unless the amp's standby switch is engaged.

That might work...I would have bought a MASS in the first place if I had known the airbrake couldn't be used as a load. Oh well. Thanks.
