one of my first z's after a carmen ghia was a kt45, i traded it for a 68 super reverb,, then i had a 6545, but it was way too much amp for me,, so recently i traded for a 2009 model kt, when i got it it had the typical e34ls in it, set up for a real clean tone,, and it was,, but it didnt have the sustain and other things i missed,, so, i put in some groove tube el34s (I dont need the raging headroom iguess) biased it a little hotter, and man oh man,, the sustain is amazing,, plug in and play, use those tone controls,, to me this is the all time sleeper dr z amp, fendery hi-watt and all points in between,,,

I have a Ghia right now, but I've owned THREE KT's!!! It will always be my favorite Z! I can't wait for the day I can have another one back in the house (to stay for good!!!).

I love my 15th Anniv. Red Head! It's the best amp I've ever heard. The tone thought my Z-4x10 is perfect to my ears.

It's no secret around these parts that I love mine. GT EL34LS and SS rectifier. Like Myles always says it can somehow cover even "Fender" clean parts...one of the best Strat neck pickup amps I've ever heard.

good to read all the input,, i am really happy with the sustain on this amp,, i put in a set of groove tube el34ms,, (not the usual e34ls that jj sells that most use with this amp, it is loud enough without them) and biased them a bit hotter (per myles; recommendation) at 35 ma and it made a world of difference, i also got a NOS groove tube SAG MPI 12ax7 and it is the bomb for me,, i record with it in a small room and it is quite loud with the volume barely on and the bass and treble all the way up... i am happy enough with it that i dont even think about a different amp, which i used to do a lot. someday i hope to use my mazerati gt in a dual amp setup.. i owned an ezg50 but really dont use reverb much.. the kt 45 like phil and myles says can do the fender hiwatt thing like no other amp,,, this is my 3rd one, ( years ago i had one and i also had a 6545), the trick is setting it up with the right bias, and preamp tubes.

I too will buy a KT45 one day as well. It has always been on my list and was the first Dr Z amp I considered years ago.

Just fired the KT45 side of my 6545 this morning (ALERT.......KT45 "poser") ;D. I wanted to try out the new (to me) fralin pickups that I bought from fiestared69 on the BST board. What still amazes me about the KT is how subtle moves on the knobs swing the tone in a pretty big way - lots 'o tones in there. The KT rocks with a strat.
Sometime in the near future, I'm going back to a SS rectifier in this amp for a little more immediate bass punch on the 65 side. Just haven't had the time to yank the chassis and do a re-bias.

I'm listening to "Mother" by PINK FLOYD right now and I'm thinking, "Man I'd love to have a KT45 here right now!"

i have been experimenting with a z brake with the kt45,,i put in some sed winged c's through an eminence patriot 50 watt spkr,, with the amp vol at a little past noon and the bass and treb at 3 oclock i put the brake on click just to the left of bedroom and min,, use the guitar volume knob for clean on about 6 or 7 and then dime it for girth,,, works really well,, you have to get it set just right, i tried it a while back and couldnt find the sweet spot,,,

Only issue I have with the kt45 is that I can't play it all day every day. I have to go to work What an amp! If I move up to queensland, you'll have to come up for a play grooverG
