I'm considering a zbrake to use with my rati and soon to be here ghia ,was wondering if using slight attuntion would wear out the power tubes faster?and how much does it monkey with your tone?

the airbrake will not cause your tubes to wear out any faster than if you weren't using it. what will cause them to wear out is if your running the amp hotter/louder, but this would be true with or without the Airbrake.

I hate compressors they mess with the feel dynamics ,

honestly, you will hear a change in tone at extreme attenuation settings, such as positions 3&4 and the Bedroom thing but for me, it is not drastic enough to warrant changing any amp settings or anything like that.
basically, if you have to leave it in one of the extreme settings ALL THE TIME, then you might want to e.q. differently, but for me, usage in those positions is only temporary until the band gets warmed up and people start piling through the door.

Hi, I'm in the UK and am well into my second year of DrZ tone thru Carmen Ghia head and air brake. The air brake has enabled me to access a range of gorgeous sounds. I get a great humbucking tone from my PRS and top sounds from a Strat. The air brake seems expensive but I think it's worth every penny (or cent). I don't use any other effects at all.
