Bought a Weber alnico blue dog from a friend who claimed"wasn't my cup of tea",not broken in yet and is the 75 watt version, sounds great right out of the box in the 'rati ,was worried it would be too dark but it's not the case,I'm really liking it with my tele, now tell me what's gonna happen when in break's in?

If it's like the 50 watt version it's going to get warmer.

Well one of the cool things about Weber speaker's is the low cost of having it reconed. If in the event it loses too much high's I'll just send it back and have it reconed to 50 watt and broken in while it's there............I only paid $90.00 bucks for it and it only had about 12 hours on it,got nothing to lose.

Ted Weber used to say that the lower the wattage rating, the brighter they ended up after break in.

I have got the 50 watter, they are superbly made and I highly recommend them all depending on the amp you are using them with. With EL84's they kill it.
I haven't got a Rati, (always wanted one) but have had a Maz Invasion 38 and I also had a Ghia among others. I still currently have an RXES and a killer 1x12 Maz jr. All, I'm sure you are aware of are EL84 amps. I play the RXES through my single 1x12 Weber Blue 50 and it tames the edgy top end nicely. Not that I don't mind that sometimes as my 1x2 Celestion V30 in a closeback sounds great with it too. I think some member played his Stangray into a 1x15 Weber and from what I recall it sounded wonderfull so i would not fear, I think you have made a great choice.

you can put it on a variac to help break it in, weber tells you how to calculate the AC to put through it. It works well and fast too.

Actually I've had it long enough now for it to break in and it just smoothed out,the high end got a little sweeter and the mids aren't as pointy, sound's great with my 'rati....
