Hi - I just started playing with a new rock band, and they are seriously loud. My Mazerati, running through a very efficient 2x12 cabinet can't keep up (v30 & g12h). It's just not possible to get a clean sound loud enough, with the volume at 3 or 4, I can hang volume wise, but at that point there is little / no clean room on tap.
how much more clean room could I get out of the 45 side than a Mazerati?
Thanks

The KT-45 (45 Side) has the most clean headroom of the Dr. Z amps. But as to how much compared to a Mazerati I can not say. However, if you are looking for max clean headroom you can not beat the KT-45. Hope that is helpful.

kidmagic: Please don't be offended for my asking but I hope you're protecting your hearing. As a guy with tinnitus I can tell you you don't want it but you will get it without protection. This is not in any way a putdown but an expression of concern for a new forum-friend. I had a mazerati and I can guarantee more clean headroom with a KT45. A Kt45 has a Hiwatt kind of sound happening and some have also said the KT45 has about the same clean headroom as a Twin Reverb.

Hey billyguitar - yes I've been consistent with my hearing protection - although my current plugs are rated at 15?, and I'm thinking I may have to move up something more dampening (like a 20 or 25). These guys just play really really loudly. But I agree, definitely don't want to have any problems.
And thanks for the heads-up on the clean level, twin reverb territory should be plenty. I've been sort of courting the 6545 for a while, so now I have the excuse to get one.

There ya go! Glad to hear you are mindful of the volume. Guys like me regularly cranked Twins, Dual Showmans, Marshalls and Hiwatts and we're paying for it now. It's an accumulative problem that hits you 20 years later. Rimshots and crash cymbals did more than their share of damage also. I play blues and jazz now but when I was in my last rock band 15 years ago the stage volume was over 120db and I always wore plugs with that band. the trick was to start the night with them. If you played a set and then put them in it was too late, the ears had already clamped down and they really hurt the sound. The music in the clubs was just as loud as the band so I put them in before we started playing and didn't take them out until they shut the music off at the end of the night. You'll like a 6545. Benttop and other guys on here are big fans of that amp and uses them.

The KT-45 has more headroom than the Mazerati and the KT-45 is also better with pedals.
