Hey guys - I'm buying BobbyRays Z-best cab and was wondering if I'll have any problems with frying the speakers if I use my Delta 88 without an airbrake?
Anyone try that (and live to tell about it ;D???) ?

I don't have a Z-Best (yet). But I do have an Avatar 2X12 w/ two Celestion G12H30s in it that I use w/ my Delta. Since the Z-Best uses a G12H30 paired w/ the Vin 30 (and the standard is twice the lowest rated speaker), it is more or less a 60 watt cab. Depending on how you push the cab w/out the Air Brake, I'd be a little nervous. Other Delta 88 owners use a single Z-Best, but I don't believe they are pushing it much, or they are using an Air Brake (or other attenuator). I push mine pretty hard (treble 3:00, bass 12:00, volume 3:00 - dimed), but I'm rarely above three clicks on the Air Brake. I think the Z Site says the Delta has wonderful cleans at around 30 watts, but Myles said somewhere that it's pushing over 100 watts driven at full distortion. I'd be careful w/ that G12H30 if you're going to push it w/out an attenuator. I bet it'd sound really good for the few seconds before that G12H30 smoked...

When I bought my Delta and Z Best, I played it with the stock speakers (V30 and G12H30) for about two weeks. I soon replaced them with a 100 watt Weber Silver Bell and 100 watt Blue Dog. Although I didn't blow the orginal speakers, I didn't feel safe pushing them at all. The Delta can put out 120 watts if you dime it. You NEED high powered speakers. I personally wouldn't take the chance.

I have an open back 2x12 with the G12H/V30 compliment and I've pushed it pretty hard with the Delta without issue. Still, by the numbers, it's a bad idea.

I used to have an 88 and blew a g12h30 that was in an open back cab. Of course that was pretty dimed with a tube screamer in front of it, haha. Sounded pretty sweet though!
