I just bought a Z 28 head, it sounds good but I am having a few problems. First when I turn the amp on and start playing the amp fizzels on me, by this I mean that the volume dies. If I shut the amp off and turn it back on it seems to work just fine. Second it seems very quiet, I run the amp 3/4 ways open or more and I don't seem to get very much volume out of it. I am running it through an 8 ohm cab. I like the way the amp sounds but I amp concerned about the reliability of the amp. I am a professional muscian with nothing but big amps, like bogner shiva (non- reverb), tonemaster, harry joyce and a slew of old traynors, all loud. I bought the Z28 for small gigs and I want to love it but I need some help. I know they are louder than the one that I have because audley freed uses them when he sits in with Mule and he is plenty loud enough. If anyone has any suggestions let me know.
Thanks, Sglip

sglip, Something is definitely wrong with your Z28, email the DR and he'll take care of you.
Have you swapped tubes yet? That's always the first thing I check when things get weird.

Thanks man, I emailed Dr Z and they emailed me back the same day, amazing. That is one of the reasons I chose a Dr Z because I have heard nothing but good stuff, about the amp and the service. Dr Z said the same thing, Tubes. I changed them and rebiased the amp, seems to be working fine. The rectifier tube was shot as well. As far as the volume, well I am a idiot, the cab I am using is loaded with tone tubies which have a lower rating, as far as decibles, I pluged into one of my old marshall cabs and it rocks. I am allways nervous when I buy a new amp, I appreciate all your help thanks
