....get a Monza? I have the $$$ to get it. Everyone knows that I'm a Maz Jr. guy. Will I be able to get to the gain of the Maz a little lower volume or it just has to be up loud to get the goods? I love the idea of a smaller package to carry around as I am getting older. You tele players "chime" in and tell me what you think. Thanks.

If you are a max the master and volume to taste guy maybe. If you are a high volume back off the master guy I don't think so. The Monza is loud and it comes up fast on the volume if you put a lot of drive in it. I would say you would need a break lite or air brake if you are backing the master off on the Maz.

I'm a "backing down the master" guy, but I do use an air brake with the Maz. If I get the Monza, I think I will get the brake lite with it.

I use the Maz like you do Russell, and I'm thinking of the Monza as an A/B amp with the Maz for the hot solo stuff; but also as a grab and go amp for smaller gigs. I'll know more when I play one I guess, and let you know too. Cheers Pete ;D

I'd say about 10am and up with Humbuckers. So in my experience it has to be up in volume to get to the drive. Its in the design. The drive works off the volume and gets thicker as the amp is turned up. I'm running it into a Veteran 30 112 until I get a Gold. Its very loud. Attenuation helps but suffocates the breathing of the amp a bit after a couple clicks in(to my ears). I just got an Air Brake for my Monza head. It works but I prefer my Monza breathing freely, openly. My ears can't take it at home though. Love the amp for blues and rock.
