Stu has posted on his site some new Monza sound clips.
Shows the Mild to Wild side of the Monza, a Queen solo, and SRV's "Lenny".
Thanks Stu.

Between that and the two Frankie Starr vids, they might need to hire additional workers to keep up with the demand at the shop

Those clips sound muffled. Had I heard those clip exclusively I would not have purchased mine. But then again, anything sounds better than what I have now as mine continues to sit on back-order awaiting the 1x10 Red Fang extension cab.

But then again, anything sounds better than what I have now as mine continues to sit on back-order awaiting the 1x10 Red Fang extension cab. Look at the settings of the guitar on that first clip which I didn't care for. I understood why it sounded like that him being in the middle pup. I would have not chosen that configuration if I was trying to demo a clean sound out of the Monza. The other 2 clips sounded fine to me though.

The clips sound fine. However, the amp sounds much better to me in real life than on the recordings. Clips online are a tricky way to judge an amp- I think they should be part of the research, but playing one in person is the crucial factor, followed by clips, reviews, forums and checking with other players who use the gear.

Yeah, I was pretty impressed with the tones on those clips. Very nice sounds at my end. I agree, and I was very impressed with the clean "Lenny" clip. All the talk about it not having a good clean tone had me wondering if I'd want one, but these clips show it's versatility.

Hey, those cleans are a lot cleaner than I thought they would be! I guess it's all relative, but I must like my sound hotter than most ;D
Also, I don't play any Country Pickin' stuff, or Jazz, so that probably says a lot.
Anyhow, thanks for posting those clips - great stuff!

Absolutely....but many of us will always have to test drive the Z amps from the backseat as there are either (i) no dealers in our area or (ii) the dealer does not stock any amp (special order only) So, the backseat drive is better than no drive at all Keith

Well I just got my Monza yesterday and I have to say the cleans are easily usable and wouldn't chase me away from this amp AT ALL. There is a quality of tone in this amp whether its backed off to a "Monza" clean or its revved up to its sweet spot(which is a wide range).
Clips are a back seat drive and I agree better than none at all but the amp in person is really needed to capture what this thing can do. To me its chock full of tone and plenty loud to gig anywhere. Incredible feel and response and this amp only has 2 12AX7's, 5AR4 and 2 EL84's which are cathode biased and need no biasing. Plug in and play my friends when a tube change is in order. The quality of tone eked out of this configuration in this amp is really astounding to me...the fun factor for me of playing through the Monza is well worth the price of admission. ;D

I'm glad that some of you have found our, somewhat limited, audio clips of the Monza 110 useful. We only had access to the this particular amp for 30 minutes before it had to be packed for reshipping, but we will have more time to record clips and play with various mic'ing techniques as soon as the next round of amps arrives in a week or so.
The point of the "Lenny" clip was, indeed, to showcase that the Monza can do some pretty nice cleans as well as the hot rod tones it was really designed for. The Queen clip best captures what the amp is primarily about IMO, but the Monza is definitely not a one trick pony amp and we tried to show that with the limited time we had to record.
The Ambient Soundtrack style clip was used to show how the amp can be cleaned up from high gain to a pushed clean with the guitars volume control. Of course rolling back that far has some impact on the clarity, but that's in keeping with the style of track we were going for there. The middle position was used since the Electrajet is a dual P-90 guitar and the neck and bridge positions contain considerably more noise for cleaner passages than the RWRP middle setting and because the middle setting is the lowest output setting on the guitar which gives it more leeway to clean up when rolled back via the guitar's volume control.
For those of you who may never hit the About Us section of our website.....the text below (from the Fat Sound website) speaks to what many of you are saying regarding clips and why we were so reluctant and slow to start utilizing them on our website:
"Our Philosophy Regarding Audio Clips:
We know that the marketplace demands clips these days (and we enjoy recording them!) and if you don't have a shop near you where you can check out all of the cool gear then clips may be something you rely on to help determine which products might work best for you.
However, every player has their own, unique tone in their hands. Some play lightly, some aggressively, some play very dynamically while others are like human compressors. Some players have a brighter attack while others have a warmer attack. Because of this, we have seen over and over again that what sounds great in the hands of one player just doesn't work as well for another player or simply sounds.......different.
We are also really big in to the feel of an amplifier and that's something you'll never be able to experience via a sound clip. The taste of a great steak is one thing, but imagine if you couldn't smell it on the grill or on your plate. Same thing with amps; without the feel only one of the two vital senses is being utilized and a big part of the equation is missing.
So, check out the clips, enjoy them and hopefully they will be of some assistance, but be aware that in many instances we can help you far better by speaking with you in person and helping you qualify what you are looking for. You can do endless "research" on the internet, but speaking to one of the professionals at Fat Sound who knows these products inside and out is still, we are convinced, your smartest move. We were qualifying people's needs over the phone for years before guitar forums and broadband connections existed and have a well deserved reputation for being able to listen to the needs of our clients and for making the right recommendation the first time."
Thanks for taking the time to check out the clips as well as for the constructive criticism/comments!
