I finally have my second Z amp! Even though I really wanted a Stangray, as it's something completely different from my 66 and something that I want for an upcoming project, I just couldn't pass up the Remedy. My first "real" amp was a plexi. I know that tone, and I just thought I don't want to go through life without it, so regardless of how much I wanted the 'Ray, I had to get the Remedy, just for peace of mind! ;D I had to wait 20 days for delivery and customs because of the holidays but it's been in my house now for a few days. I've run it through my 1-12 and Z-Best at house friendly volumes and it's exactly what I expected. That plexi tone, but I can still hear the Doc's signature ID in there. I'm pretty sure this sounds and feels better than my old plexi. But I'll reserve gushing until I've heard it in context with a band, and heard it loud. Although with my Set Neck, I have a feeling I'll be playing at less volume than most guys as those buckers push pretty hard. I'm guessing maybe 10 oclock normal volume and 12 oclock high Volume but that's a guess. I did give it the "Since I've Been Loving You" test and it passed with flying colors. ;D I think it sounds fantastic at lower volumes, great clean tone. I could use this anywhere. It is also going to work great in the Police thing I do. After all, Andy Summers played 2 Plexi's. And the black amp looks cool on a blonde Z Best. Stands out, says "yes, I am a ROCK AMP!" It's going to be very useful. Can't wait to try it in stereo with the 66. That may make me weep!

Hey Taz, do you now see what I mean when I said the 66 has that mid 'bloom' about it...where the Remedy doesn't? Much more upper mid and aggressive amp.
Both are great. I miss my 66.

I think you'll be much happier with it than the 'ray. Well a project I have coming up, the 'Ray will be a much better amp. I don't think the Remedy will work for that one, so it's not so much being happier, I'm just trying to get specific amps for specific needs. The Remedy definitely overlaps on a lot of things I would use the Route 66 for, but it's nice to have a back up amp and something with a different tonality. And one that's so familiar. The Rem will be a classic rock giant! With my Route 66 I have very expensive and rare tubes complimenting it. It is an amazing sounding amp. And I'd really like to start using it more selectively, instead of hauling it to each and every thing I do. I want to baby it a little and protect it a bit from all the rigours of playing, which is why I went with the Remedy first. This is why I said I'm actually gassing for a 'Ray but had to get the Remedy first. Now I can leave my 66 at home more often. I have a feeling I'm going to grow to absolutely love this amp in it's own right. But I will be getting a 'Ray somehow, hopefully soon ;D

Thanks guys. Still haven't got to crank it up with a band (my regular is on break) but I'm actually really enjoying playing it quiet and clean in the house, both volumes around 9 or just under. Still has a very sweet tone that low and that is pretty much bedroom levels. It gets suprisingly aggressive with my humbuckers. It's like... WOOOH! Can't wait to play it live.

Congrats Jaye.
You know, even after taking seven long years to get your second Dr Z, it's not going to end at just two don't you.
There's a Stangray head in Sydney for sale..........lmao!

What's worse than gassin' for an amp? Having one and no time to play it! Well, maybe not worse. I've got such a busy week and all I wanna do is find a room and let the Remedy ROAR!

Jaye, this is excellent news. I knew it would happen, later if not sooner. Now, go record some tone to slay us with.
