Now I know the seller wouldn't have sold me an amp that didn't work. As I am not paying him until next week and I've only got it from him on approval. But I get it home and I let it warm up while I eat dinner. Then I come in power it on and wait for it to warm up. I then turn the guitar up but no sound. I check my guitar and chord in the ray and they are fine. I then blow the fuses. Put the fuses from my ray in it and blow them to. I go out and get a bunch more fuses. But before I power on the Maserati I take out the Sovtek Rectifier and put in a brand new 5AR4 rec that I have. I power on and after a while find it no longer blows fuses. But still no sound. I change all the power tubes with new tested ones. No sound. I change the 5751 that I had in my Carmen Ghia but is still fairly new. Still no sound. I change out the 12AX7, but since I have no spare 12AX7 (too lazy to pull the one out of my Ray) I put in another spare nos 6761 I have that has been tested. Still no sound. Can anyone tell me what else I should be looking at. All tubes have been changed out. They all light up nice and bright so I don't think its the tubes. I also just tried my Dr Z open back with blues cabinet to rule out the speakers but still no luck.

Yes I plugged my open back cab in to the maserati and there was no sound. I then pluuged the speakers in to my ray head and the speakers worked. So that rules out the maserati speakers and speaker wire. Cause it worked with my ray head. I've ruled out all tubes. The only thing it can be is something in the amp. What would cause no sound in the amp it self?

Does that 'rati have an effects loop? Might be that if there's one there. Stick a cord from send to return if it has them.
Do you hear any sound at all (hiss, hum, anything) or is it dead silent? How about when you turn the knobs? Are you sure the HV fuse is ok? Check it with an ohm meter?
A majority of these things are tubes, and you've done all that. Are you certain every tube you put in there is functional?
If none of that helps, I'm out of ideas.

Had to replace the ones in my Ray as I had put them in the mazerati and blew them. The maserati is dead silent. I checked to make sure all the tubes were functional. What is the HV fuse? Is this a third fuse? If so where is that located? There is no effects loop on this amp.

Use Slo-blo fuses.
It was just shipped so I'm gonna lean towards the tubes. Just because a NEW rectifier tube is being used doesn't mean it works. Sometimes a tube can be installed improperly but look like it is. So I'd remove and re-seat the tubes in a well lit area... use a flashlight.
Also the input may have a switch contact on it so insert a 1/4" jack in there with contact cleaner and exercise it also exercise the power and standby switches while un-plugged. Does the standby switch feel right when you switch it? Also exercise the volume and tone knobs.
Also on the input and speaker jacks, and pots make sure the nuts are snug.
Good luck.

Yeah I bought the # amp slo blo's. I don't know if the 1/2 amp fuses are slo blo. Any way the guy that is selling it to me instructed me to take it to my amp tech and whatever it costs I'll just take that price off what I owe for the amp. So when its there I'll have him give it a good going over.

That will give you peace of mind for sure. BTW, the HV fuse is the 1/2 amp fuse.

Finally got it in to an amp tech today. I've never taken a Z amp to a tech till now. The tech was quite pleased to be working on the Z. He doesn't think it will be anything too serious. He says he likes working on these amps. He says they are great quality amps.

I just don't get it. I took it to the amp and he said there was nothing wrong with it. Just the 1/2 amp fuse was blown, which I was dead certain I changed. I even went out and bought extra fuses and changed both. The only thing that was different when I took it to the amp tech was I gave him a new rectifier to put in as the original was certainly blowing fuses. But all I can say is it works fine now. Cost an hours labour but at least the amp has been totally checked out. I got it back Friday but I didn't take it to my gig Friday/Saturday. I've been playing with it all day today and I'm loving it. I have a 3 nighter this week so I'll be gigging with it there and be making up my mind as to whether I'll be buying it after that. I'm pretty certain I will be taking it. One question though. The "Z" logo is missing from the front. The guy I"m buying it from said the original owner took it off because he said it looked stupid. I guess he lost it. My opinion is I love the look of the logo. Is there a way I can order a replacement logo for the amp? Not a big deal if I can't but it would be nice.

Call the factory and they'll sell you a replacement.
