I had the great pleasure of meeting Steve Rhian this past Friday, and he was kind of to do a little playing for me. Matt Rae came over to say hello, so I have some clips of them jamming as well.
A special thanks to Bob Berman, who is good buddies with Steve and the reason Steve was in NY. For those of you who will ask..."Is that the same Bob Berman who.....?" The answer is "yes".
I hope you like the clips.

Steve had started that song, then stopped and looked to Bob Berman and said something like "remember that song Danny used to play, how'd that go?" and then he started it up again. I'm fortunate to be friends with Bob, who was friends with both Roy Buchanan and Danny Gatton back in the day. I really need to ask him more questions about those guys. Steve is friends with Bob, and was up visiting from Texas, which is how he wound up in my living room.

Here's what Bob had to say about the middle section - "he played the finger-style piece Danny did for the Guitar Player Sound Page ..." Thanks for all the kind words guys. I have a few special clips planned to commemorate breaking the 1 million views mark on Youtube. (Now if I can only get $1 per view, I'd be all set. ;D ) Arlen should be back in the coming weeks, and Jim Weider has agreed to do a clip or two, but I'll probably have to meet up with him at a friends shop. It's a pretty long drive from my house to Woodstock where he lives.

I love your clips Rich. Maybe you should make a DVD of the clips? I'd pay for that. When is Nick Goodwin going to make another appearance? I know that guy is going to do some amazing things. Thanks Edwin

Thanks Edwin My initial plan was to make all the clips into a big 2 hour movie. I recorded 2 clips of most of the guys, and only put one on Youtube. The second being saved for the DVD. It's like cleaning out the garage. One of these days I'll sit down and start putting it all together. Nick will be back here one of these days. We're very good friends and speak on a regular basis. His last comment was, "I'll be back when I'm 21 and can get into the clubs to see some bands!!!" The drinking age in the UK is 18, so he's able to go out to the clubs and see all the live music he wants at home, but not here. He finds that very frustrating.

Could I be a rug, chair or throw pillow in your living room? Foot stool? I'm really good at that!
What an archive of music taped within those walls! Thanks for sharing them.

Hey Rich! Just found this, Steve's a friend of mine, amazing guitarist....very unique.
When he 'uncork's" he'll blow your mind.
Nice to see his name getting around.

Funny this is, Steve's from Rhode Island, NOT Texas ;D I know but "Rhode Island Guitar Slinger" just doesn't roll off the tongue as well! ;D He's also one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. I hope he'll be back up here one of these days.
