I'm interested in using a 2 amp setup w/the EZG as my obvious clean side A/B-ed w/another amp as my over-driven/lead side. The EZG stays sweet at pretty much any volume which can easily be controlled, but sans an attenuater & any OD pedals, which would be the best choice here? I've been checking the Remedy, SRZ 65 & Carmen Ghia forums for more info. I do occasionally run a '72 Marshall JMP MKII 50 watter when the venue/situation allows, but I'm interested in what Z has to offer.
Basically, I want to run my Teles w/no effects other than an A/B box & a tuner. I mostly play medium to large-sized venues, but if an attenuater is the only route for this, then I'm not totally opposed. Many thanks!

I am experimenting with this same setup. The EZG-50 has a great clean sound and I pair it with a Germino Classic 45 or a Galaxie. The 2nd channel of the Galaxie has an insanely good lead tone. However, I tend to want a more Marshall sound and a MV.
Recently though I have been considering getting an amp with more control (volume-wise) to pair with the EZG. At some venues, the EZG + Germino is simply too loud. I am looking at a Bogner Shiva (the 2nd channel is very Marhsall) which has a great master volume or a Dr. Z Remedy (1/2 power + Airbreak) or an SRZ-65 (master volume + Airbreak).
I like being able to A/B between a Fender tone and a Marshall tone, and the ability to combine them if the song needs it. This unfortunately is loud, as I am sure you know! So good luck and hope this helps! Let me know what you decide on too, I am still saving for my next purchase.

thanks mtlrecords. I'm looking for a Marshall sound w/MV as well for the exact same reasons, predominantly volume control. Just more into el34s as opposed to el84s. I've heard the Bogner Shiva sounds great, too, as well as the Reinhardt MI6. I was just curious if anyone out there in Z-land had tried a similar set-up. Will keep you posted on any progress here.

I love the Rx Jr. and the Monza clips I have heard sound great. I just am kinda holding out for the EL-34 type sound...including the Remedy (which is 6v6, surprisingly to my ears!).
Hopefully I will be able to get one of the doc's EL84 type amps in the not so distant future! But I am really thinking a Remedy, SRZ or a Bogner, Reeves or a Reinhardt first.

Hmmm...I just found some info/sound clips on the Monza. I can see alot of applications for this model. I was considering adding a Maz 18 NR to my 2010 purchases, but this changes my mind. thanks all...

well, mtlrecords, I'm still a little dazed. However, I lean heavily towards the SRZ in Z-land because of the MV & el34s. I respect the el84 camp but feel the need to have those el34s hitting me right in the solar plexis. Guess that's just a sign of my age...it's all good! Every amp in moderation, I suppose...

Funny you say that, because I fell the same way right now- EL 34 amps are what I am craving! I have an excellent 1x12 combo with EL 84s already, a Zinky (Bruce Zinky of Fender fame) Blue Velvet. 25 watt, 2 channel, master volume, reverb combo that just kills for small venues or practice.
Right now I can't decide- an SRZ, a Remedy or a Bogner Shiva, Reeves Custom 50, Reinhardt V50...ahh!!! I am a Dr. Z amp fanactic and will be buying more Z's in the near future, but any of these amps are on my wish list.

Before I got my Stingray I was using a two amp rig with an EZG and an SRZ. Those two amps work great together. I'd recommend an SRZ.
