I agree with Niner. Any Z with a somewhat gainy pedal through a big cab will do. I've played my Carmen Ghia through a 412 Marshall cab at a rehearsal space with a Keeley Baked TS-9 and it was pretty heavy. Not necesarrilly a Soldano super-satured tone (which I don't really care for because the tone seems SO buried to me) but a pretty kick-arse GNR/Living Colour and even shades of TOOL kinda Mesa/Marshall tone. I imagine any of the higher wattage Z's through a 412 or Z-best with the right pedal would really kill. Oh yeah, it helps if your using a Les Paul.

Well that tears it, I'll definitely try plugging my Boss Metal Zone into my Maz 18 NR and 4x12 the next time I practice and report my findings. Based on what I've heard so far (so far being only once, mind you), I'm thinking it'll rip! It's a very "stable" platform with plenty of clarity, bass and punch, so I'm thinking it'll take whatever ungodly pedal I plug into it!
Maz 18 NR Head Fenders, Reverends, Carvins, etc. Too much to mention...
Z's will do heavy with the right cab & pedals. G12T-75s and an Xotic BB+ would help.
I'd look more to an EL34 or 6L6-based amp - EL84s just don't have quite the same low end punch
I also think the tone stack on Z's is set up quite a bit different than Mesa's, etc. The Z's don't really dial up that percussive low end that you sort of need for the metal sound - that's where a pedal with a good low tone control (like BB+) helps.

GuitarZ: Needed some noise to fill a break in a tune I'm recording. It was too quiet. Just happened to have some High Quality Dr Z Ghia noise to fill the void. "Heal Your Sound with Dr Z! It's not just a guitar tone prescription!"

GuitarZ: Must be great to be a skunk. Eating bird food about 10' from our sun room. I'm clapping and yelling. At best, it might have given me one "yea what?" look while continuing to dine. At one point, there were two skunks and two racoons.

easyed: Guitar Z, I encountered to ultimate garbage raiding combo once. We'd been having problems with the garbage cans being raided by raccoons for weeks. Late in the evening I heard rattling at the cans. I went out and found that he'd allied with a skunk. "OK"

GuitarZ: EasyEd - Someone at work topped us both. The inside of their car had been somewhat ransacked. They were blaming their son. They checked the video. It was a Bear! I'll stick with the racoons, skunks, foxes, and squirrels.

bigboki: In this age and time when everybody are struggling and especially S&Ms I am amazed to see that kind of ignorance. I am really sorry for your experience dear Dr Z but it is for the better. You don't want to do business with those kind of people anyway.

GuitarZ: Didn't want to restart the plumbing thread, so I figured I'd ShoutBox this. How the heck does cleaning the aerator on a faucet cause a leak to start under the faucet? Huh? Arggggh!!!!

The Bad Poodle Experience: well, Mike, it shouldn't have been the cause of a leak. double-check your work.

GuitarZ: I updated in the Plumbing thread that the Moen website says that a faulty aerator can cause a handle/base leak. Eiyy! I really don't understand how plumbing works. I was ready to double check all connections. But, the leaking stopped with cleaned Aerator.
