So I got this for the cleans and it does that really really well. So then I decided to push it into overdrive territory,...the head room led me to pedal applications for this= great sounds , it takes pedals well. So finally I decided to push some fuzz through this thing.....its nice and fat for sure, but I havent had a chance to crank it to stage volumes. So Im wondering, if cranked with fuzz or a distortion box will the ezg be able to pull off saturated gain tones (hard rock),..not metal tones, but lets say a 90's type of grungy garage rock? Anyone have any thoughts.....

So did you crank her up, and how did she respond?

Well lets just say she takes the pedals well.....she keeps here clean tone headroom at volume,....makes you have to rethink all the pedal settings,...shes a different beast, but all in all she will rock.

The EZG can do almost anything.
With a Z.Vex Box of Metal, one could easily get ripping hard rock or metal tones, even at reasonable volumes.
As far as using the amp without pedals for a hard rock sound, that can be done also. However, the distorted tones of the EZG tend to fall more into the vintage power tube saturation of classic amps like Fender Bassmans, Bandmasters, Super Reverbs, etc. and less into the more modern tones of amps like the Bogner Shiva or Mesa Triple Rectifiers- all of which are cool amps, just different.
I think the EZG sounds best with some grit in there and I am going to have to use an attenuator live, b/c man, this thing has some volume! Hope that helps.
