but I like the GT through Celestion G12T-75s! When I first got into the Dr. Zs, I pulled those speakers out of my Marshall 2X12 1936 cab and put in Weber's Greenbacks. It was a significant improvement for the sounds of my MAZ Jr NR and RXJr (in fact, they're my favorite speakers for the RXJr). I picked up a Red Avatar closed-back 2X12 last night off of fellow Forumite, Dustin, who got it off of Eddie a few months back. I thought it would be a nice color scheme to go w/ the SRZ-65 LE. I pulled the Webers out of the Marshall and put them in the Avatar. Since I didn't have any other speakers to put in the Marshall (and I'm thinking about selling it), I put the stock Celestion G12T-75s back in it. Just for kicks, I plugged the GT into the Marshall. It sounded great! I didn't like the GT run through the Weber Greenbacks. It sounds great through my Z Convertible 1X12s w/ the V30s. The G12T-75s give a real different sound compared to the V30s. It knocks back some of the midrange. The V30 is a very midrangy speaker, and the GT is very strong in the mids (not a bad thing by any means...). The G12T-75s give a little more highs and lows because of their "scooped" nature. The mids are still there as the GT is so strong in that area. It's just a different cool sound to add to the arsenal. I don't think I'll be selling the Marshall cab now. Anybody else run their GT through Celestion G12T-75s?

Were the Celestion G12T-75's in your 1936 cab when you got it? Did you add those? I guess the new ones do, but mine has "Big Rock 55's.
I would imagine the GT would be cool with the Celestion G12T-75's though. I have been pondering something similar to this for my Marshall 1936 2x12 cab, I think this could be an upgrade.

Yep, the G12T-75s were stock in my 1936. It is one of the newer ones (I guess I got it '99 or so).
I had the opportunity to play the GT at stage volume today through the G12T-75s. They cut back on the volume a good bit compared to the V30 (97db vs 100db). That allowed me to attenuate a little less. I really liked the sound of this combination.

Don't think you need your ears checked! I'm finding that some of my favorite speakers don't fit all amps. I have a very dark well broken in Weber 50 Watt alnico blue dog which kills with the ray but for my liking a brighter speaker works with the GT. I have 2 ceramic blue dog 50w speakers in a closed back cab, the GT excells with these speakers for what I like to hear.
