I thought I'd give my hybrid picking a workout, and so decided to record this (master)piece. Great fun!
The Maz 1x12 combo (celestion gold) is mic'd with a Shure Beta 57A, and the 2x10 extension cab is mic'd with a Rode NT1A. The two signals are blended together pretty evenly, panned a little left and right.
Enjoy! Jordan

Great picking.. and also.. Great sound quality! Mic'd the speakers very nicely! Thanks, that's great to hear. Both the mics run into a Presonus Firebox, which is then firewire'd into my iMac. From there the signals go direct in to Cubase, where no processing at all was done (other than to balance the two mics against each other, and then against the backing track). Cheers for listening!

Dude, that was most excellent,I've heard alot of guys around (where I live) here try to play that and it's not easy if your not used to the hybrid method,as a matter of fact ,don't know if it can be played otherwise,I play it and there is one part that I play a little different then you do but hey it all works out to be the same, your rig sounds great!!!!!!!!!

I want to thank you for posting it - I have "The Best of Jerry Reed" but other than that I don't have a whole lot of exposure to the guy. You video caused me to head out to iTunes to check it out, and I'm going to download it and learn this one. Thanks! (this would be a fun one cranked up a couple notches on the ol' metronome!)

You are more than welcome. I think I recorded this piece at 134bpm (which is where the original is). When I started learning it I was at 85bpm. I think I spent about 30-45 mins a day on it for a fortnight, gradually bumping it up each day. I did try is at 145 for a laugh once....it didn't sound so nice ;-) Cheers Jordan

WAY TO GO! That looked so effortless. Nicely done. BTW, all your videos are extremely well played. I especially like the version of 'More Than Words."
