Life has had me occupied a bit too much to come around here much for a while. So just a reminder for anyone who does not remember - I HEART MY GALAXIE!
Long before the Master Volume Mod came into being, I had a couple of conversations with Mike about converting my Galaxie to a blended volume setup like the Remedy. "You would lose the switching capability", he said. Yes, but I think there is a sound even more glorious hiding in the in between in that beautiful box of tone. I still want to try this at some point.

Interesting thought. I found that when gigging with the Gal I usually ended up on ch2 and riding the guitar volume. I do like the channel switching but the thought of combining the channels is very compelling. Cool idea Jan.

Now you got me curious about blendin' the two channels of a Galaxie .... and yes, there prolly would be some sweeeet sound sensations waitin' to happen ..... interesting cheers always, eh Joel p.s. yes, glad to see you postin' a lil more lately ... and yes, I do recall yer Galaxie sentiments ;D

I wonder if blending the two channels (a la a Marshall plexi or a Remedy) would work particularly well. Ch. 2 would just dominate Ch. 1 in volume it would seem, but maybe this could be an awesome mod. I don't know.

Hi guys, thanks. I cannot recall now whether later builds adjusted this somewhat, but the volume sensitivity on channel 2 on mine (serial number 20 something) is such that the volume seems to be at "10" by about 9 o'clock on the dial. 9:30 or 10 o'clock gives me "11" and from there the gain goes up like the after burner on an F4 on a carrier deck ... if you know what I mean. I wondered at first if mine was in error but other folk in the same batch seemed to be saying similar things. So I got to playing around to break it in, thinking I would talk to Mike later about changing some values to decrease the sensitivity a bit. Exploring the in between shiny and blasty and just how fine I could tweak the volume pot got me thinking what if I could slowly dial grind into the channel 1 chime. Not that there is anything wrong with a Galaxie channel 2 on 11, mind - I just that my brain's what-if knob is stuck on wide open.

I think Doc got the master volume thing right......I just use my presence control waaaay too much to give it up. If I could keep it, I would be ALL over the new mod.
Jan....mine is #3, and exhibits pretty much the same properties you mentioned. Only, I like to run channel 2 around noon, and channel 1 about 2:00.......... ;D
Glad to see you back Bruthr.
