I was able to take my Rx Jr out this last Friday and Saturday night with my 2x12 cab and let it open up. This rarely happens, and man I love this friggin' amp. Our rhythm player works at the fairgrounds so we got a gig playing for the month (L.A. Fair) and usually I rely on my OD pedals for any type of grind, but this is what this amp was made for and I was in sonic heaven. On Friday I took my ASAT Classic (chambered) and my McCarty Hollowbody and those two guitars just sang. If I needed to go over the top I stepped on my Timmy and added the Fuchs Plush Drive, otherwise it was the amp and my beloved Flying Dragon. Saturday I took my G&L Skyhawk (strat) and my McCarty solid body, and it was the same thing - it was so much fun. We have two more weeks to play and I still need to bring my Maz 38, but the way this amp sounded I don't know if I can bring myself to change it up. Plus, after reading the master volume thread here, I am going to try that as well next time and take advantage of the opportunity of outdoor setting. I don't mean to gush too much, but I typically only play Sunday mornings at a restrained volume and rarely get to open up at this level. This is what I look forward to and this amp is only 18 watts!!!! WTF

yep! If I run it throuh the 4x12 I get to cut the gain down, because the louder you get it the less gain you need. Almost clean > boost to Marshall > OD to everything else.
I keep tring to talk myself into selling it off so I can buy a EZG faster, but it would be a hard amp to replace. I need to waite a couple months and have both.

I love this thing too! We played last week outside at a nice place and I used it with an Airbrake on 2 clicks and it was awesome. During the sound check, I walked out toward the back of the outdoor space and I was amazed how the RXJr carries--it seemed louder toward the back than on stage! I am using one Celestion Blue and one G12H30 and they are wonderful together. We are playing fairs for the next two weeks so I be using it outside on larger stages. I'll bet that I still don't need to mic the cabs! I've been gigging this amp for a year and a half and it is superb for country rock.
My only complaint is that the OD relay seems stuck so I don't get the OD control. After the second fair it is getting boxed up and sent to Doc. Brent said he would give me a return authorization. I hope it doesn't take too long to fix--I'll have to use my MAZ Jr NR (not a bad thing but not preferred for the country rock gig).
I understand the comment about "playing on Sunday" because I use my '64 Vibro Champ for Sundays (but I mic it ;D).

Hey Steve,
Where and When are you playing at the Fair? I'm in SoCal and would love to come out and take a listen if I'm not already booked somewhere.
