I have a really loud obnoxious hum when I turn the Mazerati on w/o anything plugged into it and the volume at 0. You can't keep it on no more than a second or two, it's so loud. Could it be tubes? or something else? If it's tubes I can swap them out.
Thanks in advance.

If your not blowing fuses, try the power tubes, then the preamp tubes. Although, when I got my Ghia, used, it was rattle and hum. Loose glass in the recto was the culprit.

Like Foxx says...try replacing output tubes first(EL84's)...I suspect if you turn the amp on until it hums and look in the back you'll see one of those EL84's glowing much brighter/redder than the others.

Well my Mazerati is back in action thanks to Dr.Z! I called the Dr. and he wasn't in so I left a message. He called me back shortly and spent the time to troubleshoot the amp. Within 5 min we discovered the culprit to the hum which was a bad 12AX7. Speak about personal service! My next purchase will be a Remedy! Thanks Dr. Z!!!

that's always good news, tubes are an easy fix.
