I was thinking, since the use of an outboard reverb unit requires 2 patch cables, what is the maximum length recommend? Personally I think no more than 4', this should leave enough room for routing and connecting and not degrade tone.
Any thoughts?

Hey Lefty getting ready for your Z-Verb? Actually if you use the Z-verb in an Effects Loop then sure the shortest cables the better, since most Send signals aren't buffered. But as a true outboard, you will plug in from your guitar so standard guitar length cable. And the Z-verb has a unity buffered driver for both by-pass and wet signal so again a standard guitar cable is just fine . Thats what we use at the shop to test for noise, signal unity, and true tone. DR.Z

I've been trying to decide what length cables from PCNS, straight ot 90's. Thanks for that input Doc. I was using a 20' Mogami between my Z-Verb and the amp, nothing shorter really, and it still sounded great. I need to get a 4' cable just to keep it simple, but it's nice to know about the buffer.

Don't know whether this is the place to ask but its close. I have a Fender reverb tank vintage 65 all original. I have plugged it into my gia and my 66 and it sounds awsome. I am using guitar cables for the hook up. From the sounds of this thread guitar cables are okay. does anyone have an opinion on this. thanks.

Personally I think no more than 4', this should leave enough room for routing and connecting and not degrade tone. Any thoughts? I use 2 5 foot planet waves cables. I noticed some degradation of tone going through the effects loop. I put it in front using the same cables and it sounds awesome.

Yes Juan, regular guitar cables are preferred. I'm just wondering. What else would you use other than guitar cables?

Thanks Lefty. Golf, I am a novice and began to think I should try speaker cables No speaker cables wouldn't be a good idea. But since Lefty said "guitar cables are ok", it sounds like there would be other options. Otherwise he'd have said, you have to use guitar cables. Which is what I thought.
