Anybody using one with a KT45? Is it safe to run the KT through a brake lite without letting the smoke out? The Weber attenuators suggest getting double the output power handling capability in the attenuator, so with that theory I need a 90w brake lite. Any thoughts?

According to the Z_Amps web site, "The Brake Lite works with any tube amp up to 45 watts..."

Hi, yes, seen that but was worried about what Ted Weber was saying, that when an amp goes into distortion it becomes more efficient and can put out 50% more output power than the stated amount as amps are usually rated at clean power. I don't want to damage the Brake Lite or KT45. Thanks though bluzman

Well, just to let you know that neither the KT or the BL have suffered from their meeting! Mind you I'm not running the KT anywhere near wide open, just using the Brake Lite to tame the beast a bit which allows me to at least turn it on at home. It was always instantly too loud either loud or if I turned it down a hair it went off! With the Brake Lite I can at least use the volume knob up to 9 before it gets on anybody's nerves. lol

Well, just to let you know that neither the KT or the BL have suffered from their meeting! Darkside - Just wanted to check in to see if you're still running the BL with the KT45, and to make sure you're not having any issues. I'm 95% certain I'll have a KT45 on the way in a week, and I'm curious about the BL. Thanks - Ches

FYI - Just to clarify in case anyone refers to this thread for advice. I emailed Brent, and he suggested going with an Airbrake instead of the Brake Lite since the KT-45 can put out significantly more than 45 watts.

That's the way to go Ches, I sold my brake lite as it wasn't cutting down the output enough for home cranking.

Slightly off topic but maybe pertinent... I've been using the BL with the Remedy at full power the past few weeks and it gets hot... but worked like a charm.
On half power it was getting slightly warm.
