First off, Hi everyone
this is my first post here so please be gentle... lol
I just got my first ever Z and it's a Mazerati 2x10 combo. And holy cow she smokes!!! Best amp ever!!!.....but I don't see too many references to it so i'm wondering how common it was? I've been looking and everyone is talking about the 2x12 combo.
Secondly, it has a set of Weber Silver Ten speakers in place of the originals. (I can get the originals from the previous owner)
How do these new speakers compare to the originals....? and should i even bother changing them back to the originals?
and finally.... I've noticed that there are a lot of people who are changing the original speakers..... why is this?
sorry if i'm asking duplicate stuff but i looked and didn't find quite the answer i was looking for so i thought that i'd post a question..
thanks everyone

It does seem that there are less 2X10 combos out there, I saw a 4X10 combo once, looked heavy, maybe it was a MAZ 38. Speaker swapping happens to get a difference of voicing, impedence, or just more or less surface area. Speaker sensitivity and/or wattage are another reason. 2X10's might be more punchy and tight compared to 1X12 or 2X12's. I would try both sets of speakers, and use the one's that you like best. The best speakers for you, will probably be what works best with your guitar, playing style, and your ears. Which set works best with the whole band?

I've got a 210 combo loaded with one Z 10 and one Weber Blue Pup and it sounds great!!! The best of both worlds !!

thanks again guys...

Absolutely, just make sure you unplug the speakers in the combo cab or you could get a y cable (I think pcns makes one) and run both out of your 4ohm tap!

My mazerati started out as a 2/10 combo but it had weber alnico speakers that were too mushy for me so I put it in a 2/12 cab with a celestion gold/weber ceramic blue and I havent looked back. I bet Z's 10's would be sweet too though...
