I would like to hear what you Mazerati owners are currently using as a tube compliment (pre amp and output tubes) and why. I am aware from Miles' home page that this amp has "split load bias" for the power tubes. Which type tube pairs have you tried? I put a GT12AX7M in V1 and the amp did not sound nearly as good to me except when I switched it to V2 and used a EH12AX7 in the V1 position. Which tubes would give a more "open" sound and minimize compression??? Thanks for feedback.

I'm using 5751s in both positions (RCA & GE stuff), I've got bunch of different 12AX7s that I'll occasionally throw in for fun. I've got JJ EL84s and a Mullard rectifier. I run the amp pretty clean and get my dirt from pedals.
As far as tone - I like the 5751s for their smoother top end. I'd like to try the different pairs of output tubes trick someday. Maybe Myles can give you some suggestions for that. Have fun!
