I was playing last night at a gig and my Mazerati 1x12 combo quit producing sound during the first set. Sadly, I can't get any sound out of the speaker. I tried plugging in direct, thinking that it was a cable in my pedal board that was bad...but no. Fuses are all intact. No smell, nothing burned etc...just no sound. Nothing. The amp does still power up...and the jewel lights up as well. All of the tubes are glowing ok...no purple. I am not a tech by anymeans, but I assume this might be a transformer issue? I have emailed the good doctor on this...but any of you out there have any ideas? 6strang

Transformer is probably the least likely. Most likely is a tube issue. Most likely tube is the power tubes. It would be fairly inexpensive to swap those out and see what happens. If you still don't have sound, some troubleshooting will be in order. But you can swap the power tubes yourself - try that first.

Unplug the speaker cable on the back of the amp and try this: Take a 9 volt battery and touch the lugs on the battery to the tip and sleeve on the speaker plug. Do you get a pop? If not may be blown speaker. Turn on the amp. Keep the volume very low. Plug into the effects loop return jack and see if you get a sound. Tap the preamp tubes, do you get a sound? Are all of the tubes lighting up okay? Unplug the guitar turn the volume and tone all the way up. put your ear in front of the speaker. Do you hear any hiss? Swap tubes? Try another speaker cab? Good luck!

Tried the 9 volt...got a popping sound. I will look into the power tubes...although I don't think that is the issue. I appreciate the advice! 6strang

I would try a different rectifier tube.

Thanks guys. Dr. Z emailed me and told me I popped a 1/2 amp fuse...and he was right. ;D All is good in Z land. I appreciate all the comments. Back to the gig tonight! My best, 6strang

Silly me, I assumed you checked the fuses first.

Yeah...feel like an A$$. The 1/2 amp fuse didn't look like it was blown. I should have checked that before even posting here. $2.00 at Radio Shack and we are back in biznezz. 6strang

Hmmm... maybe I should have some of those with me when I gig! Absolutely! I didn't realize how important those itty bitty things were until I blew one when my rectifier tube went. (I had a spare rectifier, but no spare fuses). Luckily there was a house amp that we snagged one from. Needless to say I went to Radio Shack as soon as I could and bought a bunch.
