Well, I have had the GT for about two weeks and it is as you all have stated..... this is one loud freaken amp! But damn what tone! My buddy always says "if it ain't loud than it isn't roch n roll!" This sucker is definitely made for rock n roll! I am running it though a Fender Tone Master 2/12 closed back cab with one 16 ohm C. Blue and one 8 ohm C. GT75 wired in parallel. I know this sounds like it should not be happening without frying something but it freaken sounds incredible and it works. I read an article in G.P. magazine by Dave Zimmerman of Maven Peal on miss-matched ohms. He stated one could safely run a 8 ohm and 16 ohm speaker together if the cab was wired parallel. The amp would relegate 2/3rds of the power to the 8 ohm and the rest to the 16 ohm. I contacted him via email to ensure I read the article correctly and his is his response: "Your memory is correct about the article I wrote. If you put a 16 Ohm and an 8 Ohm speaker in parallel, the 8 Ohm speaker will receive 2/3 of the power ( I have a Masters in Elec Eng, so I think I know of what I speak). Also please note that the Blue is much more efficient than the GT-75 so it will not be totally lost in the mix at all, in fact it will probably appear to be just as loud as the GT75 even though it is getting 1/2 the power that the GT 75 is getting." It kicks a$$ gentleman!

It kicks a$$ gentleman! I thought about trying that 16/ 8 ohm combo... I have a 16 ohm 50 watt Alnico Silverbell and an 8 ohm 50 watt Ceramic Silverbell. It would save me from having to send it back to Ted Weber to make the 16 ohm an 8 ohm speaker... So I'm assuming your using the 4 ohm out on the Maz GT??

I have actually tried both and cannot tell a difference tonality wise (they both kick Arse)! I am really not sure which is the most correct jack to use but I think the difference is probably minimal at best. I do have it currently in the 4ohm and will leave it as such. I plan to buy another cab, 2/12 open back wired the same way with the same speaker configuration (talk about moving some air)! I will A/B the two cabs: open back for the rhythm work and hit the closed back for the lead! damn I am having some serious fun.... I am sure my neighbors will be pleased when I get my "muzzle."

Yea, I think the 4 ohm out would be the safe one for the amp...

cool idea and since I'm a closet Maz GT wanna be owner I check this page often.
I don't know if speaker coil inductance and magnetic fields make any difference in the final ohms value but strictly electronically speaking the formula for the ohms is;
R1 * R2/R1 + R2 = ohms so for this setup is 8*16/8+16=5.33 ohms
Ya can't go wrong with the 4 ohm out. 8 ohm output is higher than the load and following the rules this scenario should be avoided but I suspect a Z amp built can take it. Why gamble when you've got a 4 ohm out.

damn, when I say I am having fun with this amp I mean I am having fun (and I haven't even used my muzzle yet...should get it tomorrow). I love the sound of single coils through this beast and to me, for clean sounds, muted runs and sweep arpeggios they cannot be beat! But when I hit this sucker with humbuckers it is freaken lead nirvana! Soooooooo, it got me thinking......, I have always been a strat man but I have always HATED the bridge PU on a strat, no matter what I have tried. Now most of you, like myself, have probably tried a humbucker in the bridge position and it is cool but to me it still lacked something, Until today! I had a seymour duncan little 59 sitting around from a previous strat, only it was calibrated for the "neck position." Hmmmmm I said, if my complaint was it always seemed too bright or thin.... why not try the neck PU in the bridge position? I mean, it should brighten it up a little being so close to the bridge.... right? BINGO! It freaken matches up so well with my EJ PU's that I am kicken myself for not thinking of this earlier. Yep, you bet your a$$! Neck, middle and in between for clean and rhythm and drop it into humbucker land for lead! This is so damn cool... my fingers are raw I have played so much. This is one inspiring amp! I have been through a lot of gear in my time but I can honestly say this baby is gonna be in my possession until old age kicks my a$$ and I can no longer play. I'm 47 now so there is a lot of air to move between now and then (I'm thinking 70 is about right)! P.S. for me, 2:00 is the sweet spot on this baby (my neighbors may disagree but... well, I pay the bills)! Thanks Doc... playing is fun again!

My Alessandro "Muzzle" arrived today! This thing is excellent. I ran the GT at 3:00 and gave it a long hard ride. The amp sounds incredible through this thing. I really thought there was gonna be a loss of tone but even at full attenuation the character of the GT was always present. Roll back the volume and it cleaned up wonderfully. I am really impressed and I am sure my neighbors are pleased. I am sure the air-brake is a fine piece of equipment but if you ever get the chance to try the muzzle..... do it! Well, life is good at my house and the neighbors are my friends once more. At least until I get some crown down the hatch.... then.....well, you know!
