I am looking forward to receiving my first KT45 this next week. Ihave a couple of vintage 30's, 8 ohms each in a Mesa Maverick combo that I thought I might rob. Is 8 ohms in a pair of single 12 inch cabs (which would drop it to 4, I guess) o.k. for this amp? Should I order some 16 ohm speakers?
Thanks for all the great help I get on this forum.

There are taps for 4, 8, and 16 ohms
I have tried different speaker configurations through all three taps. They all sound great.
I think it would sound fine with two 8 ohm cabs.

Thank you!
I guess I'll start then with a parallel splitter and run two 8 ohm cabs at 4 ohms.

Can't go wrong with a KT45! I've tried mine through various speakers and it never sounded bad. Settled on a 2x12 with Weber Thames ceramics. Also running a 1x12 with a Celestion G12H30. Both my cabs are 8ohm so I could run both from the 4ohm tap if required.

I use 2 cabs a 4ohm Bad Cat Cabinet (with their speakers) and an avatar 1x12 8 ohm cabinet with a Red White and Blues in it.
I like them both, but tend to use the 1x12 more often because of size and sparkle. The Bad Cat is nice, it just doesn't stay clean as long.
I have thought about getting a second Avatar for the other side of the stage ;->

I like mine best through 2 Weber 1265's. I agree with the above mentioned, and I'll add the KT-45 will sound good through anything. I tried it with a Hiwatt 2x12 cab with Celestion G12T-100's (some say are horrible); sounded great. Used to have a Marshall 2061cx with G12H Anniv's., good. For jams I'll take a 1x12 Scumback (Weber?) M75 and it seems to boost the mids. Nice tones, but I still favor 1265's. They seem like a clearer speaker. The above ran at 8 ohms, except the Hiwatt 2x12 which was 16ohms.
Try it out with what you got. Who know's?

Played the KT for the last two nights in a 700+ size club. That sonofa+++++ is LOUD and CLEAR.. The cab (convertible 112) had a Vintage 30 in it. I didnt dig it much. Too much 2-3k peakyness... When I got the clarity and shine I wanted, I would get that uncomfortable high, highmids bump that the V30 enhances. Cant wait for my G12H30. Anxious to see if it helps!

I do have it and it is certainly better,, for me,, than the V30. At first, it kind of freaked me out how MUCH of the high mids were removed. It felt kind of empty. It is smoothing out as I play it more and I really like it. I just dropped 300.00 on NOS tubes but I won't put them in until I get more of a feel for the amp. I want to know what Im really hearing before I change tubes. I also just fell in love with my new PRS DGT so alot of changes at once.
Oh, and to make matters weirder,, I found a tele that is better than my prized tele that I have had for years. My head is a-sploding, to quote Strong Bad.

Ha! What a nightmare! Go for the Tele, you'll always regret it if you let it get away.

Can't go wrong with a KT45! I've tried mine through various speakers and it never sounded bad. I'm currently running an Avatar 2x12 with my KT45 -- it is the semi-open back with a V30 and a G12H30 ... It sounds a little 'boomy' to me -- although my suspicion is that I just need more practice getting used to the (extreme) touch sensitivity of this amp ... I also want to experiment with more options.... What I'd love to know is has anybody run this amp with the Z-Best 2x12 cab ?? It would be interesting to hear that combo ! I actually called up DrZ and the folks there told me it would be a very 'directional' cab (since it's closed back).... Looking forward to more shared experiences ! Jd
