I bought a MAZ 38 several months ago. Great, great amp with abolutely fabulous tone. I have a question. This amp has two Alnico Blue speakers. I cannot determine if the speakers are wired in parallel or series. I have been running the speaker jack into the 4 Ohm input. Any definitive input out there as to which in the correct impedence to use?

Tuff call.. Z uses 16ohm 10's, which would mean 8-ohm load. But in this case I suspect that those are not dr Z designed speakers and would therefore most likely be 4-ohms for the pair in parrallel.
I would suggest asking a friend with a multi meter to measure the resistance at the speaker jack (unplugged).
It does matter how they are wired, so 2x 8-ohm speakers could either be 4 or 16 ohm together.
If you are unsure, I'd recomend to have it measured.

If you have a common ohm meter at hand give me a call and I will step you through finding out how things are set up in about ten seconds.

If going to a 4x12 cab (4 - 16ohm sepakers), does anyone know what impedence output to use?

That will depend on how the 4 speakers are wired inside the cabinet. Someone else could probably explain this better than I can but...4 16ohm speakers wired paralell would be a 4 ohm load BUT...you could wire combine series and paralell wiring within the cab to achieve an 16ohm load( 2 speakers series would be 32...then the 2 "pairs" wired paralell would drop it back down to 16). Hope that isnt too confusing...like I said someone else could probably explain it better.
