Hi there, I'm going to be getting an ezg50 soon and was wondering if anyone is running one with 2x12's. I had g12h's in mind but don't know if they could handle the amp.

Hi.
Yeah, I'm running an openback 2X12" with one gold and one blue that work and sounds great with my EZG.

JanLF,
Wouldn't a gold and a blue make the wattage handling of that 2x12 cab 30 watts? As far as protecting the blue?
I would think that cranking a 50 watt amp through it would really push the Celestion blue.
just wondering.

i have a 2x12 with G12H Heritage speakers. i haven't run it with my EZG, but i do really like the Heritage speakers. two 30watt speakers should be fine for the EZG. you'll really be pushing those speakers at higher levels, but i think you're relatively safe.
as an aside, i am running my EZG mostly through a 1x12 Dr Z cab with a Weber Chicago 12. i really like the Chicago 12 a lot. it's very "woody" and warm, but with a "bluesy" edge.

thanks for the replies- the 1x12 with the weber is interesting 'cause of portability. Can you still get the sparkling clean sounds or is it more of a blues set- up?

I never even thought about the wattage handling and so on . Maybe I should, but there is really no way I'm gonna crank this amp. I don't play in any setting that would make that possible . ;D, JanLF

Can you still get the sparkling clean sounds or is it more of a blues set- up? to my ears it produces very nice cleans, but everyone has their own personal preference. here is a very short clean clip that i recorded with the EZG into the Weber Chicago 12. it was recorded at very low volume, but it'll give you a basic idea of the sound. soundclick.com/share?songid=6888321

cheers C&K, that's a great sound on the clip- lots of warmth but still with top end clarity. I reckon I'm going for the 2x12 with gh's first 'cause I need something to make more noise than my pro reverb, then I'll go for the 1x12 later.

I think i'm going to have to start looking for some speakers here and there to try out some different ones. right now I have a 2x12 cab with 2 g12h30s in it. I don't think that will be the best combination for the EZG. I'd like something that will sound good with my maz too.
I've also thought about converting my 2x12 cab into a stereo cab and run my Maz head through 1x12 and the evan when it arives, through the other 12. We'll see
any thoughts would be appreciated.

That sounded nice John. both of the clips I have heard from you with the EZG have been right on the money as far as the tones I'm looking for.
Thanks for the helpful recordings.
