I just received the latest Vintage Guitar Mag in the mail. I was reading an article on Redd Volkaert and he mentioned using a MAZ 38 in the studio. Redd rocks! Paul

I met him in Denver airport. I was coming back from New Orleans and was kinda hung over unfortunately. He put up with my breath so I think he has a high tolerance to pain. Anyhow, he prefers his amps as clean as can be. Great guy, he played on the same circuit I used to and we had some friends in common. He paid his dues playing the "Third World Country" Bar circuit.

You are right Randy! It is Grammatico that is building his signature amp -edwin John is an obsessed amp builder set on building the best 5F6A Bassman ever. He may someday eclipse Leo. He has some strange approaches to it, but his amps really sound very good. I am impressed with his tenacity. I would have gotten burned out long ago working on one basic amp type...even tho I love the 5F6A above all amp types. Redd using a Maz 38? He's prob just paying homage to BW! For those of you planning on a trip to/thru Austin, I think (?) Redd still has a regular gig at The Continental Club....

THAT'LL be the day Lee. I wish you guys could have seen Redd lay all the 'Eddie Bauer tolex' delegation out at the Dallas git-tar show with a tele and a Peavey amp w/ beer rings and cig burns all over it ;^)
