I gave up on my air break when I wasn't really satisfied with what I was hearing while testing it out in my home. Most of my gigs I'm having a hard time getting the volume on my Stangray up to 2. I may get another air break and test it on a gig. Due to the fact that its hard to get my Stangray up to 3 or 4 where I like the volume, I may have to give the airbreak another chance.

When I gig my Stingray, I run the volume at around 6 (2 o'clock) and the Airbrake down about two clicks. Without the airbrake I cannot get to the sounds I want.

Right now I wouldn't really like it as high as 6. I still need to maintain some clean. about 3 1/2 to 4 would be perfect and I run a pedal to get some mild dirt. As soon as I get a cleaner amp (possibly the EZG50) then I'd like to run the Stangray dirtier. I imagine that there'd be no way to do that without the airbreak.

I did an outdoor concert last night and used the Airbrake with my mic'd old and loud JMP50 Marshall and a Les Paul, a classic combination for old school rock. I started out on setting 2, then went to setting one. I'm never wishing for something in-between with those settings. This device is very well thought out. I'm still a Tele/Strat guy, but I love the LP thing too. So many choices and flavors to be had. I can get there with OD pedals and single coils, but the only way I can find what I want with the LP is with the Airbrake. What I used to do is buy an OD pedal to control the amp volume, but then the pickups didn't work right with that pedal/amp combo, so I'd buy different pickups but then the amp didn't quite sound right so I'd buy a different amp, then I'd try different speakers, but that didn't work just right, so I'd try a different pedal, and I'd start all over, on and on it went..........

I tracked down another Airbreak through Long&Mcquade but I have to wait till Thursday as someone is supposed to pick it up by then. If they don't show then its mine. If they do show I guess I'll have to wait for another to be shipped from Dr Z. I should have tested the one I had at a gig instead of just at home. L&M always gives you 30 days for a full refund so there is lots of time to test it out.

As others have stated, it's priceless at a gig to keep your sweet spot and adjust for the room/crowd levels
