Who plays or tried to play heavey crunchy music with the Galaxie?
I know it doesn't sound like it goes together but to me some of the best sounding amps for heavey music have been the ones that weren't really made for it
It's not that I'm a metal player by any means but I know the Galaxie is gonna sound great for clean/bluesy/rock, but what happens when you palm and grind the guitar? You bar and slide up to the 12th fret and then let that open D bomb drop?
Does the amp really growl? Does the low end hold up? Does it just amaze you with the sound it makes?

Remember, the Galaxie came into being as a request from Joe Walsh. Joe ordered the combo with the G12-65.

Sorry, you are not dumb, I was being ... inarticulate I suppose. It just sounded like you were describing Joe Walsh's playing.

Heavy music with the Galaxie? Most definitely!
It ain't no fragile or delicate amp on channel #2.
imho, grab a Les Paul (or other favorite), crank it up, add a couple of o.d. pedals and have some fun, eh ;D ;D ;D
cheers always, eh
Joel p.s. also sounds cool when you add a 210 cab via the extension

Hey I have a 2x10 and my fav. online Z dealer has a used Galaxie with a 1x12, but I am tring to get away from combos. I guess I could always stack them up three high.
Nah, I'm waiting for a head or this 4 6v6 thing, but I'm not sure. Just guessing that it will be this one and then that one. One day I'm gonna trash this computer and be done with all this GAS stuff.
I remember when I was happy playing just one guitar and one amp.

Get a Mazerati GT if you are looking for something heavier.

I have never played/heard a Maz GT live, but.....If it gets heavier than the 2nd channel on a Galaxie w/a LP/greenbacks, and a good dirt box....Call Kirk Hamett/Dan Donegan.....They mite be interested..... ;D
I'm juss sayin'....

I'd describe the channel 2 as more of a fuzz sound than a crunch. It's great for lead playing, but it doesn't do the palm muted rythm like you would hear from a marshal or recto. In fact, I don't think any of Dr. Z. amp really due that sound. It's a big, seriously scorching sound, but really more of a lead tone.

Let me make an edit to my above statement. Turn the bass almost off (call 8 o'clock), treble down to say 10-11, and channel 2 becomes a really nice crunch tone for me! Volume anywhere from 8:30 -noon. I also put a bit of compression on it, just really really nice, and very much it's own voice! Love it!
