I received my EZG-50 yesterday. I had a band rehearsal in the evening, so I was anxious to get home, plug 'er in and see what was what before heading off to practice. I turned the volume knobs off before turning the amp on, hooked all of my stuff up, and started engaging the volume. A VERY LOUD microphonic-squeal was coming out of the cab. I turned the volume back down, unplugged my effects rig & guitar, cranked the volume back up, and the squeal was still there. Worried (thoughts of having to send the amp back before even using it) that there was a problem, I shut it down, made sure that all tubes were securely fastened, turned all knobs off, and ran the unit again. At this point, there was NO squeal. There was hope! I turned the contour knobs, still no squeal. I turned the Reverb knobs, the squeal was back. So, I turned the unit off again, reached in and spun the reverb connectors while seating them tightly in their jack. Voila, no more squeal. I was really worried for a few minutes, but once I had solved this problem I ran the amp. Great tone through the 2x10 convertible cab. I still have it closed. Brought both the Stang-Ray & EZG and used them in parallel at rehearsal. Very nice. Now it's off to cabinet experimentation, to see just what this head sounds like through all of the cabinets I've got. By the way, my EZG serial # is 21. MeZa

Congrats on the amp MeZadude!!
I was just thinking the other day that maybe the ultimate rig would be two EZG-50's; one through a Z-best and the other through a Z 4x10. That would be killer (and loud!).

i got a new weber chicago 12 to run with the EZG-50. the speaker arrived yesterday and i got it installed last night. i'll play it today to see if the match is a good one. i have a feeling it will be. yesterday i was running the EZG through an Avatar 2x12 with G12H Heritage speakers. i was quite surprised at how good it sounded. the bass was very heavy but tight, and the treble was smooth.

So far there are two cabs which I like with EZG50,a pair of 12 greenies with open back Z cab and the other is Z Best. Both cabs are killer with Teles,Strats and LP's.

i just took the weber for a spin with the EZG. my first impression is that i like it, but the G12H Heritage greenies were better (i think). the Heritage speakers were in a 2x12 closed back, the weber is in a 1x12 convertible open, so it's not exactly an apples to apples comparison. anyway, continuing to have lots of fun with the new EZG.
as someone else pointed out, there does not seem to be a dramatic range of tone no matter how you set the knobs. i'd somewhat agree with that sentiment, but the range in the amps "depth" is it's strength. the use of reverb and mid-range takes the amp from tight, focused and right in the center to spacey, airy and very layered. the bass is like a weapon at certain settings. i think the Doc should include a warning sticker :-) this amp makes things shake!!! (but that's a good thing).
