Hi All I just installed a 6106 rectifier in my Ghia. Now understanding that it was a differently but overbuilt 5Y3 I wasn't ready for the increase in volume and punch. Does it run a t a higher voltage, or more current?
Not wanting to believe what I heard I asked my son without telling him what to expect- "That one is a bit louder, Dad and it sounds thicker-and has more attack." Interesting- any ideas? Brett

Update to the previous message message. I did a gig last night with the Bendix rectifier. I had more head room- with the tele and a 12BH7 in v2 I usually find it starts to clip at about 10 o'clock on the volume. With the Bendix in it's about 12 o'clock when that happens and it seemed louder ( I used slightly more attenuation with the minimass. Brett

I'm using the Bendix 6106 in a 5E3 type amp and I find it gives it a bit more umph ! If you look at the specs it does put out about 10 more volts then most other rectifiers and certainly more than any current Russian/Chinese offerings which is where you will really notice a difference . They are one rugged tube with a slow warm up time and they only draw 1.7 amps BTW which is below most other 5Y3's drawing upwards on 2 amps so it's not going to be an issue with your transformer and the slow warm up is good for your other tubes .
