I just got a Radial Switchbone VT amp head switcher. I'm using it with my Maz 38 Sr head, and my Carmen Ghia head. One thing I've noticed is that if I turn the "cut" control up at all, I get a high-pitched whine. It's not apparent when using the amp without the switcher, and I have no similar noises through the Ghia, (although of course, it doesn't have a "cut" control). I get the sound regardless of if I'm using the "buffered input" or not. Also, I tried different cables.
Could it be some type of ground loop manifestation? [The cut control is the only knob that causes the sound].
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this......

I have their Headbone VT. I use it to run a MAZ Sr. combo along with a 18 watt Marshall clone head. I can't use the tremelo channel on the Marshall clone because of the same problem you described. I've had no problem with the MAZ part of the equation though. In researching the problem I've found there are some amps that don't take to switching all that well but I've never heard of the MAZ being one of them.
I'm not familiar with the Switchbone but the Headbone has a ground lift switch. I get a high pitched noise if I have that set the wrong way. Wish I could be more help. Maybe the folks at Radial or someone in the experts section of this forum would have an idea.

I tried the ground lift switch, but the sound remained. After three nights of extensive demo'ing, I decided the VT is just not for me. In addition to the sound I get from the cut control, there is also a slight delay while switching heads. And it seemed that it had an effect on the tone--I had slightly less crunch on the Ghia than without it.
It was a good experiment, but it is now listed on ebay.
To use both heads, I just added another 1x12 speaker, and use a Startouch A/B pedal to jump between them......

I don't think the Switchbone was intended for use with only one speaker cabinet, if that's what you were doing. That's what the Headbone is for.

I'm sorry, I mis-identified in my post. It was a Radial Headbone VT, (which is the tube amp head switcher for use with one speaker cabinet). For some reason, I keep mixing up the names of those Radial products......

I have a Headbone here and have the same issue. I originally bought it to switch between two THD Flexi-50's. One worked fine, but the other had that parasitic oscillation. But when I switched them around, they both worked fine. So I had to put numbers on both amps so that they always got connected to the same channel.
I think Radial has some work to do on this unit.

In all seriousness though, I'm glad you posted this since I wouldn't have looked here if I had that problem (and I AM considering getting a Headbone). Cheers!

Whoa I didn't see it was 5 years old! Google found the post for me! Initially I didn't think it was related to the Switchbone because it was only happening to the Marshall (I've got one of the 1 watt Marshall combos and an M12 combo hooked up, sharing the Greenback in the M12). I was thinking one of the tubes in the Marshall was bad, but then the squeal started happening in the M12 too.
It works fine with the M12 as the 1st amp and the Marshall as the 2nd amp. I got my Switchbone used off eBay, but it seems that others who bought new can end up with the same issue. Still, it's a cool setup.
