I kind of figured there was a really good reason for the pre and post,... even though these are way different than any other pre/post volume Ive used. considering you didnt get a super saturated tone with one cranked and the other low I assumed there was a greater cause. Docs quote with the pre being optomized to help the gain of pedals Im going to have to completely rethink all my settings.

I'm having a master volume installed by my tech in the back of the amp. This way I should be abel to get those great rock tones without shaking the foundation. Should have it back by the end of the week and I'll post a review. He told me it was no problem to do and they are the biggest amp repair shop around. Very reputable. Not to mention I have become good friends with them.

I actually just picked up the amp this afternoon and it sounds amazing. It's just one matching knob in the rear that cuts the volume down. It didn't change the tone or anything else. I had it done at Davidson Electronics in Plainview New York and they explained to me that it doesn't change anything in the amp. They use multiple testing and then are able to put in the master volume without changing any of the circuits. They have done it alot for Marshalls and other amps but this is the first Z they have ever done it to. All I can say is wow. This thing is a killer now. Tomorrow I'll really get a chance to test it out but we did play it for abut 15 minutes in their sound room and with humbuckers it sounds killer.

I would be open to the Davidson mod. If you get bored, maybe post some recordings you do...

So how are the volumes pre/post wired electrically. It's not really a master volume, they work together. Anyone know?

Has anybody else tried this master volume mod?
Post a diagram if you are able...
