I broke down and placed an order for one through Humbucker Music this morning. Since I'll be using it with existing cabs (at least, for now) which are all black, so I ordered a black & tan version. They're expecting them by the end of June. Sounds like more fun in store this summer. Can't wait... MeZa

I would imagine that there'll be a lot of people are getting this amp after Zfest this past weekend.

I called Lance at Ray's Guitars in Michigan to tell him to order me one - now only problem is which color. I would have liked blue but Brent says that is a couple of months off at a minimum if they do it. So I guess I'll "settle" for a red one. NOW the problem is what offset color and what speakers should I get to go with it. 4X10, 2X12, or 1X15???
Decisions, decisions.

go with the 4x10" i fell in love with that tone! John's right- I ordered a 4X10 first thing Monday morning. Z amps in general are not too picky about speaker choices; however each amp has one speaker/cab combo that it just "loves". (They all love the Z-Best.) The Stangray loves a 2X12 open back with Blues, the RxES loves a 2X12 open back with a Weber Blue/Silver combo, etc. The EZG loves that Dr. Z 4X10. John made it sound like heaven. I hope when I get mine I can do it justice.

At Z-Fest there were three EZG-50's, two set up on cabs and one for show I guess. Anyway, one was hooked to the 4x10, the other was hooked to a 2x12 with Golds. We got to setting the controls exactly the same and pulling the guitar cord out to switch between the two. I have to say, they were both excellent. But different. The 4x10 really had that American sound you expect with a blackface amp. But the Golds made the EZG-50 sound less like a blackface and more like a Dr. Z amp. I loved both, to be honest. If I had this amp I'm really not certain which cab would be my first choice. I think it would depend on my intended use. Why is it every decision "depends" on something else?

I already picked up a blonde 2x10 convertible cab to go under the EZG-50, whenever it arrives. MeZadude

hahahaha. very funny Mr. Benttop (not!). :-) all joking aside, i thought i saw a post stating that the EZG-50 will be shipping to dealers at end of July/early August (roughly). if true, this is a bit of a delay from the earlier estimate of late June. but, not a big deal. i'll just continue to be patient.

i posted a question for the Doc and/or Brent about a ship date. he said that 30 EZG-50s will go out by end of month. that is some really good news. i may have my EZG by mid-July. if not, no worries. i'll get it when it arrives at my door.

Careful, Steve, messing with tone junkies about their fix can be dangerous. There is a joke here about a Z man spends his life getting into tense situations... I'll work on it, maybe something will come to me.

We received one in the store today (Alpha Music). Great sounding amp! Kinda like a Twin meets a Hiwatt. It's got all of that blackface mojo going on, but with DR Z's stamp on it. Not quite as scooped in the mids as a twin, and just stronger sounding. But when you crank it up, it really smacks you in the chest, and moves some air. Thats the Hiwatt thing. The interesting thing to me is the Pre control. Yeah it adds some grit, but moreover, the more you turn it up, the more it increases the punch factor. And of course the reverb is superb. Killer amp. I doubt it will be there more than a week. Harold
