Hi Z dudes and gals, since there are none of these in my area to try out, trying to gather as much pro/con info on this amp as possible. My question is: anything you guys would change or prefer more/less of with your GT?
Thanks! Brandon

This is a trick question, because any amp can use something, but at what cost? In other words, lets say I wanted a full complement of tone controls - Treble, Middle, Bass, Cut - would that change the sound and dynamics of the amp? I'm pretty sure it would. So my answer is, I wouldn't change anything that tampers with how it sounds now. Yeah, it would be cool if it had a master volume, but if that changed how it sounds or responds, leave it off there! Because as far as how the amp plays, I likes it just fine, thanks.

That's the kind of response I was hoping for. Thanks benttop. I would def-initely use an air brake with this amp.

I'm betting the other owners of this amp have similar feelings about it. This amp RAWKS just the way it comes.

Pro: Get one before they are sold out. Con: Get a second if the first one will be stolen. Don´t forget the airbrake.

As far as a minimal circuit path amp, one that brings out every nuance of your playing, "feels" great, cleans up wonderfully, etc. - it's pretty much perfect. Enough highs without being harsh, great lows, killer mids, great feel, dynamics...you get the picture. Adding components or changing anything (including the number of output tubes) would change the character of the amp for the worse. The *only* downside I can think of is the volume. And that is a matter of physics- you're just not going to get that complex tone without four really hot output tubes cookin'. If you can live with the volume or airbrake it, there's nothing like it... except maybe a ______.

I wouldn't change a thing about my GT. It is what it is, and you have to love it for what it is. Yep, it's a loud sucker, but the Air Brake is the perfect solution for volume management. This amp is exactly what I've been searching for in a high gain, harmonically rich amplifier. Not only does this amp sustain on it's own when you strike a chord, but you can hear each note in the chord so distinctly, that it just blows your mind.
And what a perfect compliment when used with a Stingray for example in a multiple amp setup.

There is definitely something I would change about mine. I would get one with a face plate like Phil's

Yes, I would get it changed to 240V so I wouldn't have to use a step-down transformer. ;D Probably make it sound more marshally too

Not for sure but just maybe......Presence Control and a Half power setting, a line out and maybe a buffered loop. All tone suckers for sure but you asked.

I would like a master on mine, but it's not that big a deal if you have the Z-brake. It's my favorite amp out of all of the Z-amps and probably all the others as well. You will be happy with it.

I would like a blue "on" light. Oh and can you simplify the controls a tad? Two knobs are a lot to think about. Otherwise it's pretty darn perfect!

I'm just glad to see this amp back in the line up. Oh, I understand it's been tweaked from what the original was, but an amp with this much power and just a volume and tone control is just what the Dr. ordered (pun intended). Now, I just need to free up the cash before it disappears again.

Could install a pop up Devil figurine to say the tubes are getting sweeter, That's all I think it needs.

Well, even attenuated, the GT is a loud sucker. Like Steve said, I wouldn't change anything that would alter the tone. But how about a PPIMV?

Come to think of it, I think the GT should come with a seat belt!
