The 50 watt would be more conservative and versatile usable with other higher powered amps. If funds were limited such that you had to rely on just one speaker at a gig without a backup then I would stick with a 50. On the other hand if you had the luxury of owning several backups then I would fine tune it with an assortment of power ratings. I'm using a 25 watt Greenback w/my RX Jr at rehearsals and I might even use it at a gig (if I had a gig) but I will always have at least one backup with me. My moto: Multiple redundancy backups always! I do have a backup. A friend of mine let's me borrow his EV whenever I like because he has two other cabs, one of which he uses all the time. I also plan to find a cheaper cab some day to play around with. I really don't think I'll get another amp for some time, and if I do I'll do the low wattage thing again to pair with what I have. I just don't need tons of volume. What are the advantages of going lower wattage? Weber's site says the higher the smoother. I'm guessing the lower the earlier the speaker breaks up with less volume?

I tried this with a 2x10 Jenkins with a Weber Blue Dog and Silver Ten both ceremic. Settings were about 9:30 Bass, 11:30 Mids and 10:30 Treb. Master about 1:00 and Volume about 11:30. Used a Telecaster with CS Texas Specials. Overdose was ON and in the High Input. If I went louder on the Master I had to turn the bass down on the amp with this cabinet! It was sweet!
When Buddy used this config, his settings were similar but he had the MV and Volume higher and I think the Bass he had set lower due to being louder.

Sorry guys for the stupid question: I don't know much about this amp but I guess I like it! Where's the "Master Vol" you're talking about? I see only 4 knobs

It has been a little while since people have had this amp - has anyone found other settings they really like?
I think I've found what I'm going to try at my first gig with this amp:
- Start with all tone knobs straight up and roll the bass back to suit the room. - Overdose: ON - Input: high - Volume: 3.5 (10 o'clock) - Master: start around 10 o'clock, but as much as the room can stand
When I can turn the Master up more, I like the overdose off and the volume higher (around 7), but for lower volume stuff these settings sounded great while I was messing with it last night.

I used it at a gig the last weekend, and (like somebody suggested with the Maz Jr.) I dimed the tone stack and checked it with a clean boost... NICE... then with a TS9 and it was pumping... but that is not how I use it. It was impressive though.
I have been able to get good Allmans Les Paul sounds in the low input with OD on and a KOT. A very clean sustain. I haven't been able to use it in practical way at a gig without the attenuator to get the nice compression. It is still a very loud amp, but with an Airbrake it's very cool and natural sounding. With a Les Paul and ES 335, I have not had to put any tone controls above 11:00 and depending on the pickups the bass is cut back and the treble sometimes is too. I have used it with a single 15, and it was good, with my 2x12 it was good but LOUD, and with a 2x10 it was more defined in the lower end. So far due to the punchy bottom of the amp, I like the response of the 10s... Ceramic Webers, a Blue and a Silver. But that could change in the next room I play it in!
I played it with a Mesa Thiele 1x12, don't know the speaker that was in it, and it was a bit bright so I cut back the treble. It was singing and the low end was VERY NICE and full and overall it was very balanced sounding. I'm thinking a Thiele 12 cab with the right speaker will be the ticket for my tastes.... and fortunately I can always go back to the 2x10!
