Why is that a problem?
I f you mean cut the power chord and replace it with a chassies contact - of course it's doable. But then you probably have to a make bigger square hole in the chassies.
If there is a third ground lead in the power chord, ( in Sweden it's green/yellow striped ) make shure you dont confuse them - when you re-tool the external power chord or you mount and connect the chassies contact.
You may end up frying your-self - or the "safe-grounding" may not work when you need it.

I would send an email to the Doc or Brent and purchase the chassis femaile and the cord from them with perhaps a requested diagram for certainty and perhaps recommendations on placement and how to best punch the rectangular hole required as that's the hardest part. Just my .02

I have several "hole-punches" (sorry dont know the english name for the tool ) from the time I used to build stereoamplifiers in the 70:ies. They are however circular, but can be bought in any good hardware/tools store. Have never seen any square ones though.
You'd probably have to drill, saw, cut and file to make a decent square hole in the chassies.

Are you sure you can't you just tuck the cord inside the cabinet? I wouldn't think it would stick out far enough to be a problem.

One idea is to cut the cord so it can be tucked behind the rear top panel and come out a few inches below the bottom rear panel. Install a female extension cord connector then make a 10 or 12 foot cord with two male ends. Easier than punching holes at least! YOu can tuck the female end in when you are done. Make two of the male to male cables, just in case!! Home depot has the connectors and cable and it can be done in under 1/2 hour for under $20.00 bucks. PT

If you have male to male power cord, inevitably someone unplugs the one at the amp end first and those pins are sticking right out there for you to get a shock. Much better to just put a standard plug on the short cord and use a standard extension cord to get to the wall.

Heed "benttop:s" advice - the end of the powercord going into the amp MUST ALWAYS BE A FEMALE PLUG - NO PINS sticking out. The chassies-power-socker should ALWAYS BE MALE. Please don't do anything stupid. , "you're still a young man". ;D Cheers: Dixiechicken

I'd contact Doc on this one . I'm sure you could arrange to send it back and he would modify it at a reasonable cost . I'm still not fully understanding your problem with the cord as it is .

I just got an ATA case for my Maz head. There is NO problem w/ the cord. Just notched out a little piece in the foam. That's a whole lot easier then f'n w/ your head!

Yep they are right! Can do it with a short male off the back and an extension cord though. Don't know what I was thinking.

I have a Maz jr head now and it looks like there's plenty of room to just wind the cord and stand it vertically in the recessed back area. Hell, put a couple of door pulls on the back mesh panel and wind it on.

Sorry to bring up an old thread.......
My amp tech guy converted my old Mesa Tremoverb head and an old Fender Twin that I had that both had the cord attached.... He changed them in to an IEC plug that all other amps use (the same cord on the back of a computer).

The only drawback is that most people don't have the die or the hydraulic tool to cleanly punch the proper opening. That is the way to do it though!

Yeah i think Doc has covered this more than he would like to. I had the same question tho, its a good one. The policy is they will be using the iec plug from now on. On new models that is. If you are handy with tools, have a go. If not have a tech fit a plug socket, wouldnt be that expensive. I was gonna do my Maz 18 head, but ended up selling it to my brother and ordering a 1x12 combo. Now i can just wind the cord up in the back, WOOHOO. But i still have the RX head...:-( Enough talk its waiting for me, got to go play my new special. Yeehaa!

I stole this idea from Roscoe....just a small/inexpensive (5 inch/$5) set of cleats from the hardware store. I didn't have to do any modifications to the grill on the back of the amp, the bolts were small enough to fit through the screen. It helps keep the cord under control when you slide it into a road case or clamshell cover.
