I am trying to decide on a head and cab or combo Maz 18. What about this whole reverb thing? How many of you actually use reverb?
I play contemporary christian music in a relatively new school auditorium to about 300 people.

Unless school auditoriums have changed much since I was in school (&, considering that was back before electricity was discovered...), you'll get plenty of reverb from the walls & ceiling of the auditorium. More added would just make mush.
Personally, I rarely use the stuff, but that's just me.
Hope that helps.

You can always turn it off when playing in the auditorium. It's nice to have when you need it if and when you play somewhere else.

I would go with the non reverb head. The NR has more gain, shorter signal path, is cheaper and has an effects loop where you can add reverb or delay when needed. A head and cab is easier for me to transport vs a heavy combo and makes for easier speaker cab flexibility.

I'll take reverb any time I can get it. I've got plenty of amps with and without. If I had two identical amps, one with and one without, I would take the one with reverb to most gigs. I'm different than most guys because gain ain't my thang so clean goes better with 'verb.

You can get the same amount of gain out of a Reverb model as a stock NR model with the right tubes. Good Luck with your purchase!

I've decided that I can't live without a Maz Jr. combo, and when it comes to the time, I'll definitely be getting reverb.

i also play contemporary christain music. small world, like hillsong and stuff. ok, i would say get a head and cab... get the non reverb for the gain, but buy a spring reverb pedal, because its very sefull... Alnico blues are made by celestion. if you get a 1x12 get either the celestion alnico blue's, or a tone tubby alnico 12". i preffer the tone tubby...if you were to get a 2x12 i would put a vintage 30 and g12h..... good luck (red is the way to go)

Newbie here If I had the choice I'd take the reverb model - one device less to carry around and can be turned off when not needed. Unless Dr. Z upgrades the model to a reverb model you will not be able to upgrade later without losing the warranty or decreasing resale value. Hope I remember this when I buy my first Z ...

DC here! Just chiming in since my coming Route-66 neither will have a built in reverb OR an effects-loop for that matter. I'd take the head with the reverb, if it is actually as good as most, say it is. ( I'm assuming less salespitch talk from the good Dr - than is common ) Good external reverbs are not exactly bountyful, they are all pretty expensive as well. I my opinion a good reverb is much more useful than gain. ( please papa don't hit me - I promise not to say this again ;D)Cheers: Dixiechicken

Im kind of in the same boat. I think Ive decided on a Jr for my new blues amp and simply cannot decided on a 1x12 combo, 2x10 combo, or head with z-best cab. Id love carry and go quality of the 1x12, but I have read such fantastic things about the z-best - head combo. Wish I had a store nearby to play them all!

its all what your used too.....if your comeing from the Fender camp...............you want reverb ! If your comeing from the Big M camp.....probably not. Z's reverb is not splashy like a fender reverb. Its much more natural sounding, and much more suttle. I love combo amps ! A Maz 18 w/reverb will cut a deluxe in half!
